I personally want to thank you for supporting the petition demanding Wal-Mart reverse it's sexual orientation policy that threatens our families as well as our nation. If you need to quickly check the petition again, here's the address:

LINK TO CHECK AND/OR SIGN PETITION

By signing, you've joined the biggest battle yet against the homosexual pollution of America's moral values. To prevail, the American public
must respond in such numbers that our nation's largest retailer has no choice but to side with us and stand against the homosexual activists -
    - regardless of what trouble that means.

This requires a tremendous effort on our part, but one that MUST be made for our nation's sake. As a soldier in the fight for what's right, you
are needed on the front line to show the way for others to follow. Speak up now before we either must praise homosexuality or be silent.

Will our combined voice be loud enough? To be blunt -- that really is up to you. Understanding the ominous consequences of the damage Wal-Mart's
unchanged policy will hold, won't you please encourage not just friends and family, but everyone you know to take a stand at
    ConservativePetitions.com? Sound the battle cry!

    Phil Sheldon
    ConservativePetitions.com

P.S. This struggle is spiritual warfare. Homosexuals claim they can't change, that God made them that way. That's a lie straight from hell. Tens of thousands of former homosexuals are proof Jesus will transform and rescue them. That may be the best kept secret in America today!
Unless Christians speak the truth of God's Word against this steamroller, we will be silenced. So wage this war not only for family and friends, but for those who mistakenly suffer in that detrimental lifestyle. Pray for eyes to be opened, for souls to be saved.

    Sue,

Please keep us informed about this in the months to come. I am curious if Wal-Mart will really reverse their new policy. Has any company ever done so in a personnel policy like this?

    Thanks.

I signed it too. If all else fails, we should stop shopping at Wal-Mart.

    Ken,

It isn't private enterprise, but last year, the city of Colorado Springs extended benefits to same-sex partners of city employees. The more reactionary / conservative elements of the city mobilized and elected new council members, who immediately revoked the benefits this year.

Not surprising, considering Colorado Springs is home to over 200 conservative Christian groups (all tax-exempt, of course) such as Focus on the Family, Navigators, KHCB World Radio, Summit Ministries and many many more.

This is going to sound really stupid...I know homosexuality is a sin...but how exactly does it undermine the family? I keep getting this question from people and I don't know how to answer it. The fact that it breaks God's law is not enough for some!

Help me sound intelligent here! [IMG]

Maybe it would be a good idea for the advocates of this petition to explain exactly what it is that they want Wal-Mart to reverse. How about some detail, rather than vagueness?

Why??? You think Wal-mart, as an secular employer, should be able to discriminate against employees (treat unfairly when it comes to salary, work-place respect, etc.) based on their sexual orientation?

Since I have not personally seen Wal-Mart's policy I can only tell you what I read in the many petitions/ emails I've received about this.

It is MY understanding that Wal-Mart will fire anyone who states their disagreement with the lifestyle of homosexuals. I hope I misunderstood this tho!

I *never* sign anything based on "what other people" say. Christians, like others with strong views, have a tendency to exaggerate stuff like this. I highly encourage you to see for yourself, directly from the "horse's mouth", what the policy change actually is, and why it was implemented. Basing decisions on gossip is a BAD idea.

You probably did, since you admit you only have 3rd party gossip to go by.

That is correct Diane. They will get fired if they do not respect the homosexual's lifestyle. They are being ordered to respect sin.

A poster who works for Wal-Mart posted the original thread and it contained a link to the new Wal-Mart policy. I have been looking, but can't seem to find it. Maybe you will have better luck. [IMG]

Thanks Sue! I had received the petitions from Phil Sheldon and others I admire but had to admit that I have not actually seen Wal-Mart's new policy for myself.

I would be VERY interested in any evidence you can provide for this claim. From what I've seen of official policy, it was only and simply the addition of "sexual orientation" to the list of things that could not be discriminated against (i.e. it was added to the list that already contained age, race, nationality, gender, etc.) In case anyone hasn't noticed, this goes both ways, for even heterosexuals have a "sexual orientation". I have seen *nothing* about being "ordered to respect sin" or respect the homosexual lifestyle, only to respect (in the context of the work environment) and not discriminate people regardless of their orientation.

So, any actual evidence that people "will get fired if they do not respect the homosexual's lifestyle", or is that just the exaggeration-machine running in overdrive?

Hey, why not? Adulterers, child molesters, and a whole assortment of perverts get hired.

I will not support this petition. WalMart's policy protects all employees from being discriminated based on their sexual preference. That means that I, as a heterosexual, am now protected from discrimination, where I did have not have that protection before. It also means that, should I choose to remain single and/or celibate for the rest of my life, I will not be discriminated for that lifestyle choice.

I don't think you have checked into it enough to find out if the above is true or not. Sounds like a rumor to me.

It has happened before . . . at Kodak:

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=29394

I also know that some of the regional Bell companies have annual Diversity Training that employees must pass in order to keep their jobs. Before their merger with Qwest, the old U S WEST had this very training, and anyone discriminating based on a number of factors, including sexual orientation, could lose their jobs. There was an entire Department of Diversity at U S WEST, and they worked to insure that every employee's rights to a harrasment-free workplace was maintained.

This is where all companies are going to I'm afraid. Soon there will be no place to work or shop that does not have this policy. The recent victory at the Supreme Court will only cause the gay community to get more aggressive in extending their influence to every facet of life. As for being required to never speak out against the homosexual lifestyle as a Walmart employee: if any employee suffers disciplinary action because of expressing an opinion, this may be a case to ask the American Center for Law and Justice (aclj.org) about.

I have read Wal-Mart's new policy. Have you? They are not keeping it a secret. They released it to the press. It was even in the newspapers. I have also talked to some Wal-Mart employees. I think maybe YOU should check into it more before you label it a 'rumor'.

    Blessings,
    Sue
