I've been extremely pleased with Kaspersky.

And their support has been good as well.

Just noticed Office Depot is selling their product...

rbell <--NOT compensated by them. :D

All three are fast, thorough, and light on the resources. I would recommend any of them. I would compare prices and get whichever was cheapest for the length of the license.

Eset's NOD 32 impresses me. So does this give you real time protection or just real time for email apps?

Reviews say NOD 32 is lightest on its feet and is the most speed friendly. Thoughts?

I have never used it, but I hear that F-Secure is also very good.

ESET is real-time protection, and I can vouch for it being light and fast. I am currently beta testing Microsoft's Security Essentials, but plan on going back to ESET once the testing is complete.

My son's a tech, he would NEVER put Norton on anything, it drags you down.

I use avg free, it is real time and I've never had a problem.

The best solution is to go LINUX and get rid of windows, period....and these days its easy, free, and windows-like... Open Office is free; has all the programs that are like and compatible with Windows OFFICE....see ubuntu

PCLinuxOS may be the most windows like...maybe not comletely free, but cheap or Linux freespire

For an old computer, run Puppy

I bought that line awhile back and got stung. It IS NOT compatiable with MS Access. I bought a stamp database thinking it would work in Open Office, but not so. In most other cases OO is compatible but not all

I am currently in the beta test for Microsoft Security Essnetials, MS's free antivirus. So far, so good. I spot check it with ESET's online tracker every now and then... it finds a cookie or two but nothing major.

The final version should be out in a few weeks and is supposed to be free.

If MS had any smarts they would put the underlying operating system on chip to be put in a special socket on the motherboard.
