Bailout bill passed - they wanted to get more earmarks written in before leaving.

"By one estimate, the bill includes 2,322 pet projects sought by lawmakers for their home districts and states, totaling $6.6 billion."

That was not the bailout bill. It was the appropriations bill. They haven't voted on the bailout bill yet.

Also, Congress hasn't left. It is still in session this week.

Thought he was talking about the bail out when I saw him on tv today, didn't read the full article - don't know if the bailout has them or not but I'd bet there are some landmines built in.

They did a 23 billion bill for car makers as well - busy little beavers!

I noticed this slipped through under the radar also. I hope the car makers bill encourages hybrid development as well as alternate fuels.

' GM spokesman Greg Martin said in a statement that the loans “will support advanced technology development and implementation and will help speed the transition to cleaner, more fuel-efficient vehicles.” '

Have you seen the new hybrid Escaldes are only getting 20MPG? Something seems wrong so I hope they do much more developing so they can get that to 40 or 50MPG.
