Many churches are preaching about Family values, then having so many services and activities that there is no time for the Family to be a Family!

How many services and activities does YOUR church offer?

We are members in a large church with many programs. It takes up Sunday all day and Wednesday nights plus Saturday morning. Most of the rest of the activities are targeted for certain groups and do not involve everyone. We do a great job and it does not require overcommitment by anyone. [IMG]

At my church, there's Sunday School/Adult Classes at 10 AM, the morning service at 11:00 AM, and an evening service at 6 PM. Wednesday evening service/Bible study is 7:30 PM, and the kid programs (called Glory Stars here) is also Wednesdays at 7:30 PM. Buses bring people in Sunday mornings, and bus visitations are on Saturday mornings and early afternoons. Soul-winning visitations are on Tuesday nights. There are no multiple/identical services here.

We have Sunday morning S.S. with 3 different adult classes plus kids & teens etc.
I keep a schedule and we begin on time and end approx noon give or take about 5-10 minutes.

    Sunday night at 6 p.m. & out by about 7 p.m.
We have prayer requests - share blessings - sing favorites - I preach approx 30 minutes.

Wed. Adults in Bible Study while we have a Kings Kids program. We do not allow a lot of adults to work in Kings Kids. Most of them do not teach S.S. and are qualified. With Kings Kids; Teen class; auditorium & nursery - we run from 108- 125 on Wed.
We run a bus on Wed & Sun.

Revivals and special meetings - when we have a Sun - fri. we also have a church dinner on that friday. Folks can come from work and eat. Folks bring food but our church buys food and have folks in the kitchen ready to serve at 6 p.m.

When we have a Sunday service - such as anniversary etc. where we may have an afternoon service too ... we do not come back at the 6 p.m. hour as I feel that the 2 p.m. afternoon service (after a church dinner) serves as the evening service.

Visitation--- I do something I have never done before. Cancelled it ... as a SET day or evening.
For years, Tues. was visitation here .... the folks in town went shopping; did laundry etc. every Tues night.
THEN: not very many came out for it.

I give the deacons 3-4 visitation cards each week PLUS our S.S. teachers turn in a visitation report each Sunday.

This allows the folks to visit ANY DAY of the week and at ANY TIME that works for them.

We have a lot of folks visiting each week ... about triple of what we had before....
Far more visits are being made ...
More folks are visiting on Saturday on their own.
Folks in church invite folks from work etc.

Here, it seemed as if you couldn't invite someone to church unless it was on a Tues.
It seemed as if you weren't spiritual unless you came out Tues.

Yes, I did switch it to a Thursday ... it improved ... some ... but for now ... this is working very well.

We do have one bus and the bus captain has volunteers who visit on Saturday's.

Attendance: Doubled in the past 4 years.

I try not to let the same people doe more than one or two jobs in the church so as not to work someone to death.

There are those who you can't keep down and so I don't --

We don't have someone every day or every night.

Our special services that may go a week are:
    1. annual revival meeting - either Sun - fri or Sun- thru Thurs

    2. Missions Conf. - Sun - Wed

    3. Annual Soul Winning Conference - Begins with a revival mtg Sun - Thurs. The pastors come in on Tues.

    4. We have special Sundays such as Law Enforcement Day - vet's day celebration - Church anniversary etc. But we do not take all Sunday.

Our activities are varied and with different groups so as not to involve the entire church at each activity.
