So you have your own army and navy to protect you? Or are you better off having money "stolen" from all of us for mutual protection?

That is specifically enumerated in the constitution. And it fits with a limited government. But your philosophy is not just about health care is it. You want the fed to do much much more. Health care is not specifically enumerated. If you want to read something read the constitution.

Bub I made a well detailed argument of which you completely avoided and simply spoke to your being a Marxist. Now you false make this accusation. You have no credibility. This is the last I will comment on this.

MP, what percentage of your income would you pay in taxes to be in a single payer plan? Do you think 5% would do the trick or would that be too little or not enough? I think that might work because hospitals would be giving little to no uncompensated care, which would enable them to charge less.

I think you are right. But I'd pay, oh...probably up to 10% more for a universal, single payer system. But remember that would be offset by not paying the "for profit" companies that we now contribute to. In fact, with greater efficiencies, and no more billion dollar CEO payouts by insurance firms, we may net/net out at no increase at all, and have everyone covered.

Bear in mind, that's just top of head...no math went into it. But then, I am probably delusional.

I don't believe the comparison works, for several reasons. The federal government does not control all firefighters, they don't set a rate of pay, they don't get between the department and homeowners, they don't mandate that everyone buy fire insurance, and that's just off the top of my head.

And yes, I wish I could afford to live in a community that hired it's own private police & fire departments.

Conservatives give substantially more to charity than the Marxists. That is short for democrats. Marxists want to take all the money and redistribute it. Of course they want an entrenched and well paid bureaucracy to disburse the left overs. You know of course that the average Federal government worker makes $30,000 per year than the average civilian worker.

I believe I will take you up on that. I'll bet that MP sends in double his tax bill. I can see from his posts that he is blessed with an enlarged heart. For us Conservatives that might be a fatal illness but not for MP and like minded Marxists.

If you would read history rather than Marx you might learn that Marxist governments like the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were responsible for the death of some 40-50 million people in WWII.

Also, we see when the government involves it'self too much in a police or fire department, you get reverse racism, lawsuits, and qualified people passed over. That situation in Connecticut comes into mind.......

Nazi Germany was fascist; that's at the other end of the political spectrum, but it could be that you accept the horseshoe theory.

Why do you think I want to kill people? I just want to help them.

But since you can't, isn't it nice that you have the public option?

Now you are confusing economic systems with political regimes. How many millions have countries with socialized medicine like Sweden killed?

Um, no. I believe we could operate a private force much more efficiently, for less money. I was wrong. I can afford it, and I believe most could. The gov't only complicates matters.
