Obama tells the Turks and the world that… “Although…we have a large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation, or a Jewish nation, or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”

    http://www.americanfreethought.com/wordpress/2009/04/07/obama-says-america-not-a-christian-nation/

Just who gave the POTUS the right to wave his hand and take the Christianity of America away? A recent poll shows that 76% of Americans believed that they were "born again!" Granted, there is a some question as to how many are really living like they were "born-again!" Still, this is a bold statement for our President to make before a Muslim audience. I say that this guy has gone tooooo far! And I'd say that from the CEO's of our biggest corporations, on down, we, are in big trouble.

It seems that every time he speaks, we lose more of our freedoms and ideals. More of the traditions that we claim and hold as Americans. Our national identity is being stripped right out from under our feet, and in the of becoming a more "User Friendly" nation, Obama is re-making our image with every word that comes out of his mouth!!!

The question is this: What will he say next? And when will the 76% of Christian Americans stand up and proclaim that "enough is enough?"

WELL, I Say "Enough is Enough!

Yes, this man is off the wall anti-american, and non-christian. May the Lord bring him down.

We are not a Christian nation. Obama is absolutely correct. We are officially a secular republic under the constitution. We ARE a nation comprised mostly of Christians, but it doesn't make us a "Christian nation".

Good article on this is HERE. (from a conservative publication BTW).

Again, this comes just after he declares to Muslems that Islam has helped to shape America for the better.

The very ideas and values that shaped America are fundamentally Judeo-Christian values and ideas.

On the one hand, Obama denies and/or downplays the Christian heritage of America and on the other he invents some sort of positive influence of Islam in shaping America.

For those of you that have repeatedly demanded that we should give Obama "a chance"; I, for one, am becoming more and more concerned that he is taking us down the wrong path.

    peace to you:praying:

We Have Finally Met on Topic

Thanks for your words. Obama is taking us down a path that is not in line with what he was voted to do. It is great to finally agree with you on a topic...blessings to you!

I Reached in My Pocket, and Found....

.....a hand full of coins that tell me that we are a Godly nation, not a philosophical one of like minded ideals. Those coins all point to America as being a nation that "TRUSTS IN GOD!":wavey:

    Thanks LE...

I appreciate your keeping this topic on course. It is one that doesn't need to be sidetracked, hi-jacked, or simply trivialized.

America does not have Christianity. Some of its citizens do however.

Well he told us what he was going to do before the election. Even Joe the Plumber recognized part of his plan. There were some who, correctly or not, warned of his connections to Islam. Perhaps they were not as kooky as some thought.

I am not sure we are a country composed mostly of Christians. That being said most Muslim countries view the United States as a Christian Nation. If you don't believe me just visit one.

You are right MP, while we do have a majority of our citizens identifying themselves as Christians we are a nation of religious freedom and tolerance.

But here is what is troubling to me. While I would fight to defend the rights of that minority of Americans who choose to follow other religions, would they do the same for me?

As long as we maintain a Christian majority I don't see a problem. If Muslims want to come to America and practice their religion they are welcome. I would fight to defend their right to worship as they see fit. But, if we ever have an Islamic majority, like France, England, Holland, and other European nations are approaching, if we ever have that Islamic majority will they defend my right to worship as I see fit?

Today is Good Friday. All government institutions and schools are closed in honor of Good Friday, a Christian observance.

Obama and his secularists and Obama apologists have it wrong. We are STILL a Christian nation, albeit in name only.

With respect to what you are saying, when our forefathers founded this country, it was based on Judeo-Christian principles. I believe our nation has become very secular. Our nation should be a Christian nation, but based on the actions & beliefs of its people, I'd have to wonder.

In all fairness to Obama, he was probably short-sidedly thinking that our country does not have an official religion like most other countries of course we don't even have an official language either. I can't speak for him because I don't know how he thinks.
