The Hill Poll: Majority of voters believe Obama has changed country for worse
    By Sheldon Alberts - 07/09/12

Two-thirds of likely voters say President Obama has kept his 2008 campaign promise to change America — but it’s changed for the worse, according to a sizable majority.

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under Obama’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall.

Conducted for The Hill by Pulse Opinion Research, the poll comes in the wake of last month’s Supreme Court decision that upheld the primary elements of Obama’s signature healthcare legislation.

It found 68 percent of likely voters — regardless of whether they approve or disapprove of Obama — believe the president has substantially transformed the country since his 2009 inauguration.

The feeling that Obama has changed the country for the worse is strongest among Republicans, at 91 percent, compared to 71 percent of Democrats who support Obama’s brand of change.

Yes, but it wasn't a fair poll.

35% of those polled had no brain.

Rapidly followed by this weather bulletin just handed me:

"Tonight's evening weather forecast shows increasingly darkening skies as our area proceeds towards midnight. This will be followed close on with brightening skies as dawn approaches."

So, okay, I agree obama has changed the country for the worse, but why is he still a couple of percentage points leading Romney in other polls? It doesn't make sense.

I don't trust polls- I suspect that they will artificially keep it a "close" race until November.

I don't see how President Obama has made any major changes. We still have the Patriot Act and indefinite detention, Guantanamo Bay is still open, there's been no real campaign finance reform push, the Bush tax cuts are still in effect, and we're still in Afghanistan.

Really the only large changes he's made is we're (somewhat) out of Iraq and the health care law which serves as a giant gift to the large insurance companies. I had hoped President Obama would have been a strong progressive, but instead he's a centrist Democrat who caters to the Republicans at every turn, even though the Republicans aren't willing to work with him no matter how far he bends.

    You are forgetting about...

    Trillions in new debt

    Chronic unemployment

    Government ownership of GM

    Continuing foreclosures on homeowners

    Increased numbers on food stamps

    Etc.

    Isn't "Progressive Democrat" an oxymoron?

In other words, he's just Bush 2.0.

Most of the "change" has been to step on the gas of all the failed big government policies of the previous administration.

This is the biggest pile I have ever seen on this board. He is a far left extremist who refuses to compromise at every turn. He is an arrogant fool.

Some polls routinely poll more democrats than Republicans.

Well said. Democrats are reactionary, they want a return to totalitarian, cradle to grave government. They are simply to stupid to understand that the time line of "cradle to grave" is short under dictators.

The only time Obama has bent is when he tried to knock his head against the floor in his obeisance to the Saudi king.
