That's not as extreme as the methods Bush and his henchmen have been using. Things like taking away our right of Habeas corpus. Jailing American citizens for an indeterminate period of time without charging them with anything or giving them access to an attorney. Things like eavesdropping on our telephone calls and breaking into houses without a search warrant or just cause.

So you admit this is what he is doing?

Would you be talking about those who were found attacking American soldiers on the battle field on foreign soil?

This is another one of your intentional fallacies.

They all speak for him by his authorization. No excuses mate. His message isn't really all that clear.

When will you get it! If you don't like the laws Congress passed, it took the Democrat vote with the Republican vote to pass them. The Congress can also repeal laws..... and the Democrats have had the power to bring these laws up to a vote since 2006 and haven't done so.....nor have they done anything concrete about the promises they made to YOU when YOU and others voted their majority into Congress.

If and when your man gets into office, it is doubtful that he will show the measured restraint that President Bush has shown, once he discovers the tools of power given to the executive branch and its agencies by the Congress.

Why don't you start your own thread instead of hijacking this to talk off topic. The subject is the promises of Obama and back tracking.

Yes, I think it is very likely that Obama will not implement all of his agenda (either by lack of cooperation in Congress or by outright going back on his promises). But there is one issue, only one, where Obama will be 100% successful in getting his way: Abortion. You can be assured that the one lobby which will be 100% pleased with his actions: The pro-abortion lobby. Obama will surely appoint pro-death judges and will use executive order capabilities to fund abortions with tax dollars, etc.

So for all you voting for Obama, when you wake up 4 years from now and realize that he didn't keep all his promises that you hoped for - ending the war, soaking the rich, getting free health care, whatever, you can at least feel good that he kept his word on promoting the right to kill a baby and deterring any progress made at eliminating that precious right.

At least you'll have that to look forward to, Obama supporter.

No matter who is elected tomorrow will have to do some reduction of expectations because of the dire economic straits the current republican administration has put us in. In the debates, neither candidate would answer direct questions from the moderator about which of their programs would be significantly impacted by the severe recession/depression. There wasn't any difference in the way both candidates dodged this question. It's understandably because they both want to get elected.

But there is a great difference in how you view the two parties.

Well, Obama has promised to keep the seas from rising, and to end worldwide poverty. He has promised no war, and free medical care for everyone. He has stated our children will be given free college, and nobody making under $250, or $125 grand, depending on which one of his lap dogs are barking, will have to foot the bill. He has promised to raise our standing in the world, and to prosecute war crimes.

Which expectations is he saying he won't be able to meet ?

I think in one of his interviews, he said the things he promised would be delayed until the economic crisis was solved.

Yes, that 250 to 125 scares me. It is not that he is anywhere close to what I make, but its been cut in half once, and could be again down to 60. Obama did vote for some bills that put extra taxes for those earning 42 K and above.

Would a budget that raises taxes on lower incomes count?

Obama Voted In Favor Of The Democrats’ FY 2009 Budget, Which Would Raise Tax Rates For Americans Earning As Little As $31,850:

    Obama Voted Twice In Favor Of The Democrats’ FY 2009 Budget Resolution. (S. Con. Res. 70, CQ Vote #85, Adopted 51-44: R 2-43; D 47-1; I 2-0, 3/14/08, Obama Voted Yea; S. Con. Res. 70, CQ Vote #142: Adopted 48- 45: R 2- 44; D 44- 1; I 2-0, 6/4/08, Obama Voted Yea)

The Democrats’ Budget Would Raise Taxes On Individuals Earning As Little As $31,850. “Under both Democratic plans, tax rates would increase by 3 percentage points for each of the 25 percent, 28 percent and 33 percent brackets. At present, the 25 percent bracket begins at $31,850 for individuals and $63,700 for married couples. The 35 percent bracket on incomes over $349,700 would jump to 39.6 percent.” (Andrew Taylor, “Presidential Hopefuls To Vote On Budget,” The Associated Press, 3/13/08)
