    I guess strictly speaking...

...Memorial Day is a day we say "Thank You" to those who made America what it is.

In the "messiah's" mind, he probably would think he's doing the right thing.

Hey, in the not-too-distant future, we'll probably be required to pay homage to Barry on "B.O.H.I.C.A." Day ("Barack Obama's Homeland's Idolization and Compulsory Adoration" Day).

Man, I guess you are going to start expecting people actually research their baseless accusations against a leader they strongly dislike and want to find a reason to slander...;)

Interesting thread. Why are there so few comments on such an important issue??

Don't know if your post was directed at me or not, but to clear the air, the OP was posted with a statement and link to the story. If you took my thumbs down icon as a baseless accusation then you are mistaken. I think this President and every President, unless they are ill or have a domestic or international dilemma, should in remembrance of our veterans meet with the Gold Star families and place flowers at Arlington. If you disagree, fine, this is just my opinion.

It Is Probably for the BEST...

.... afterall, Obama may make another apology to the rest of the world for American arrogance and audacity in fighting in the wars over the past century

Nice tactic. Once it was proven that Pres Obama will take part in a Memorial Day observance we change the topic that has nothing to do with the OP.

    Back to the OP.

As usual, Snopes did a much better job of research than I did.

According to that research President Bush Sr, for example, never observed the ceremony, spending three of his four years on holiday in Maine. In fact, 1/3 of the time in the last 30 years the president has delegated the authority to someone else. With this criteria Cutter I assume that President Clinton, who never missed an Arlington ceremony, would be high on your list of respected presidents?

Why is the Lincoln National Cemetery any less worthy of a presidential visit than Arlington? Are the families of the brave soldiers buried there of less worth than the families of those buried in Arlington?

Yes, on this particular issue it does appear that Clinton came out on top.

So why is a visit to the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery any less honourable that a visit to Arlington National Cemetery?

Personally, I think it's better to stick to policy when debating an elected official's effectiveness and not try to phony up a bunch of indignation. Such are the tactics of right-wing talk show hosts. We should be above that, I think.

Interesting the selective memory of the far frantic right wing. Either that or they simply do not do their research before criticizing Obama. Of course, if he went to Arlington they would criticize him for not being somwhere else.

Again, I'm no liberal. Please don't label people just to be pejorative.

I guess a liberal is someone who thinks that the president can honour the war dead at a national cemetery other than Arlington?
