Does care for veterans have to do with a "national" healthcare program? Why do we even have VA Medical Centers? to care for the men and women who have be injured and/or disabled defending our Constitution and country. What has the military done to Obama for him to seemingly have disdain for them, IMHO.

    Obama must FAIL!

I have United Health Care, the doctors bill the insurance company. All we pay is a co-pay. Before this we had Kaiser which didn't have bills. Just a co-pay.

The way I read the statement is IF the soldier has private insurance the Gov will asked to be reimbursed. I'm not saying it's the best of idea's, I am only saying it is not charging the soldiers.

What obligation does a private insurer have to pay for service related injuries and disabilities? The U.S. Government alone has the responsibility, through taxes that collect from all citizens. We all have an obligation to care for our Warriors. I have no problem with my taxes paying for them.

Now this is a solid argument, it also seems the soldiers injuries will be pre-existing conditions since they obviously don't have private insurance while in combat. Also, most private insure will pay for the bare minimum prosthesis then make you come out of pocket if you want latest and greatest. I think our soldiers deserve the best.

Lastly, soldiers require a lot of mental help. I would hate to see that limited to xxx number of visits per calendar year.

There are somethings you don't mind paying for and I for one don't mind paying for our vets health care...

What does the format change have to do with the content? I classify Americans as American citizens only. I don't support illegal aliens. People that are in the U.S. on legally, fine but they shouldn't have the same privileges as citizens.

Actually, I believe that the strongest supporters of illegal aliens were business owners who wanted cheap labor. Why should I favor illegal aliens? They just cause trouble and spend our tax dollars.

By the way, I'll bet I've paid taxes for more years than you have so please don't feel superior.

I think part of the problem was how much Bush cut the VA budget. Our returning soldiers were neglected to the point of embarrassment. However, Obama is going the opposite extreme since he has given them tons of money in the budget but now wants to outsource their services.

This is one I don't agree with either. I would accept a tax increase if it was to care for our soldiers.

Now that you mention it, it will probably make private insurance go up on the rest of us...

This is the same president that is willing to force a national health program down our throats saying the government can't afford to take care of our wounded warriors, but we can affoird to provide care for 15 million illegal aliens.

This moronic idea would be dead on arrival in Congress. Even his own party is aghast at Obama's idiocy.

I was posting this in response to earlier post saying the budget had been cut. That is untrue. If more money is required fund it. Take it away from numerous other agencies though.

There is a VAMC where I live and they seem to be doing fine and one in Birmingham also. I have heard of no complaints of inadequate funding. With the liberal papers (my local paper is NYT owned) around here, any slight by the George Bush administration towards veterans would have been pounced upon.

Placing the burden to care for our disabled veterans on the shoulders of private insurers will cause an increase in premiums for all insureds.

Sounds like it may all be part of the plan to put private insurers out of business in favor of a government run program.

It's underhanded and dishonest. Just what one would expect from an ultra left liberal like Obama.

He appears to be taking the approach that if the government can't own it, it needs to be put out of business.

We're seeing a one term president at work. He's in so far over his head that he won't see daylight for a million years. He appears to be dead set on any course of action that will aid in the destruction of our republic.

    God help us!:praying:

That was me who said Bush cut VA budgets...

It started in his second term...

    http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/19982.php

And got so bad by the end of his administration veterans were suing calling the system a black hole...

    http://www.usnews.com/articles/news...inistration-over-delayed-benefits-claims.html

So I can't speak for the VA in your area but I do know it was a big problem during the Bush years which is why Obama raised their budget allocations way up because it's been a broken mess...

I guess no one was appalled when Bush whacked their benefits to pieces...

PS... To add to my last post...

This is why I understand what Obama is trying to do. If he can get private insurers to pick up the tab when applicable he can take those savings and use them for other vet benefits like getting them ready to enter the civilian job market.

One area where we are failing bad is unloading the weapon we created when we sent them into combat. We are taking these men and women from the battlefield and putting them back in their home community without addressing the mental effects of combat. That is what we did during Vietnam and it cause big problems. I would think we would have learned from that.

What did we do for the WWII folks ? What are the stats on how many of those needed after care, and how many were able to hold jobs down, raise families, and have awful memories they never acted on ?

Very different scenario... In WWII and Korea soldiers didn't spend nearly as much time in actual combat. An example is a soldier may have seen combat only twice in 4 years for a total of 30 or so days. Many soldiers only saw combat on D-Day and the rest of their time was training for the day. A lot of their time was training and preparing for combat. Units were also "pulled off the line" during those wars and the soldiers got plenty of R&R.

They also stayed in the service for a while after the war. It first of all took days or months to get them back to the states via ships then the manual process of out processing them took much longer. Some spent time as occupation forces. This gave the service time to observe and find the serious cases and make sure they got help before being released.

In Vietnam like today, a soldier could be in firefight in the morning and at the dinner table with their kids that evening. They are not getting a "decompression" period or a period of observation which I believe is dangerous.

LeBuick has bought into all the myths perpetuated by liberals about the returning Vietnam veteran.

He doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

BTW LB Stop lying. Bush never cut the VA budget. Not even once. Not for 1 cent.

    Got it?
