WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Say, didn't the dems accuse Bush 41 of exactly this sort of thing, by saying he tried to stall the Iranian hostage release to make Reagan look good ?

    This guy is a slimeball.

Obama is a defeatist that can't stand it that we are winning and is trying to forestall any signs of victory until he can take credit for it.

    "Slimeball" is being kind.

Reminds me of the Iran hostage crises when Reagan was coming in to office.

    Really?

How many troops did we have on the ground in Iran at that time?

This is strange, I only see this article on conservative blogs and McCain's site. The NYpost article was put up at 4am so I would assume we'd see this all over fox and the main news feed but their all quite...

"Barack Obama has never urged a delay in negotiations, nor has he urged a delay in immediately beginning a responsible drawdown of our combat brigades," Morigi said.

"These outright distortions will not changes the facts -- Senator Obama is the only candidate who will safely and responsibly end the war in Iraq and refocus our attention on the real threat: a resurgent Al-Qaeda and Taliban along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border."

He wants to delay an agreement because he doesn't want the failed policy of GW Bush to be continued.

Nice dodge, but the two situations are totally dissimilar.

One is a shooting war and the other was about hostages that are not about to be harmed.

Soldiers are getting killed while Obama plays politics.

Didn't you wonder why you don't see it anywhere but on conservative blogs... That was my first clue something was fishy.

Since 3/4 of Americans agree the main stream media is biased toward Obama it isn't surprising at all

Can't be all the media, conservatives have Bill O'Riley and Hannity Combs to name a few. I watched both of those programs tonight and didn't see this mentioned. Those guys would love to put something like this on the airwaves.

Rush mentioned it. But the only article I can find is the NY Post. The National Enquirer turned out to be right, let's wait.

This is just the type of story that the corrupt old media will intentionally ignore to aid Obama in his efforts.

If it is indeed true, McCain will make sure it is told far and loud... That you can count on.

In fact, he'll do that if it's not true... But not even a peep from him???
