"""""So what is he looking for in a new church? “What I want to do in church is I want to be able to take Michelle and my girls, sit in a pew quietly, hopefully get some nice music, some good reflection, praise God, thank him for the blessings he has given our family, put some money in the collection plate, maybe afterwards go out and grab some brunch, have my girls go to Sunday school. That’s what I’m looking for.”"""" Barak Obama

    This is from:

    http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/05/31/obamas-church-woes/

Its too bad that Obama's view of what church should be is such a common view in our churches today. This is what most church members want from church, just a nice, non controversial "get together" that doesnt require alot of effeort on their part, except for attendance. Notice I didnt say "Christians", because there are many more members than there are Christians in the church today.

And further, there are too many pastors that treat their position as a "job" and think that their job is to please the "members" and not rock the boat.

Folks, church is not just a social club, and its too bad that it is treated as such by so many......including presidential candidates. Obama didnt cite any spiritual qualifications or needs in searching for a new church, he is just looking for a social experience. This is a very shallow view of what we should expect from our church.

Sad. He didn't say anything about worship, either. :tear:

Prehaps then this is what you would want in a church if you were looking for a new one.

True, but worship is more than just praising God.

Didn't he also say that he didn't want to attend a church that spoke anything negative about abortion and/or homosexuality?

Agreed, dragonfly. I think that if Senator Obama became a member of the church where these anti-Obama posters attend and agreed with them on abortion and homosexual marriage that they would still come on this board and badmouth him.

Maybe not. Maybe he'd even pick up a few votes.

He can come to the church I pastor...

And I promise not to target him.

I would love to preach Christ and Him crucified to the leaders of this country. I would love for them to hear that there is forgiveness for their sins... as there is for ours.

But I wouldn't back down from preaching against sin.

I hope he finds a church that will preach an evangelical theology, and not a liberation theology.

The liberation theology says that if we get the right social programs we can wipe out sin...
Evangelical theology (most Baptists) teach that sin can only be destroyed by the blood of Jesus.

For 20 yrs Obama has set in a church that teaches a false gospel.
Maybe this is God's way of pulling him out of the cult he was in, and placing him somewhere that he can hear the true Gospel and grow...

Don't fault him for his concept of church... that is all he has ever known.
Pray that he experiences real church. He just might like it!

Can you imagine what would happen if God gets ahold of this fellow!

Miracles happen... if I didn't think people could change, I would grab my guitar and move to Nashville and become a big star! (Ok, maybe not...lol)

But I think this may be the best thing this guy has ever done!

Like I said, he can come to our church..

One would hope so Tim, that they go to a church where they can hear and believe truth over the false teachings they have exposed themselves to for 20 yrs and live a Christ like life over what they've got now.
