Replacement Obama Pastor Just As Controversial As Wright

    Wednesday, May 7, 2008 8:54 PM

By: Newsmax Staff Article Font Size

New Trinity pastor Otis Moss has called Biblical patriarch Abraham a “pimp” and made other statements many would consider offensive.

Barack Obama has finally distanced himself from Rev. Jeremiah Wright after a 20-year relationship, but the pastor who is replacing Wright at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ is likely to be just as controversial.

New Trinity pastor Otis Moss has called Biblical patriarch Abraham a “pimp” and made other statements many would consider offensive.

After Obama called Wright’s comments “divisive and destructive,” a questioner noted that Rev. Moss has defended Wright and asked if Obama would continue attending the church.

“Well, the new pastor, the young pastor, Reverend Otis Moss, is a wonderful young pastor,” Obama responded. “And as I said, I still very much value the Trinity community.”

Moss, the 37-year-old “hip-hop pastor,” as he’s called by congregants, will become head of Trinity in June, after serving as an assistant pastor there for two years.

But a videotape of a sermon he delivered at Wright’s church shows this “wonderful young pastor” referring to “ghetto prophets” and “thug theology,” calling the late rapper Tupac Shakur a “prophet,” and reciting at length lyrics to Shakur’s song “Thugz Mansion.”

No surprise here. If the church loved Rev. Wrong and his rhetoric it seems fair to believe that the successor would plow in the same field.

I just listened to most of the message by Moss. He is full of himself.Along with besmirching biblical prophets his arrogance is very unbecoming. So much for Obama's denunciation of Wright's ways. Moss is following in his mentor's path. Thanks to youtube it will be evident to all that Moss is a shameful person. His 'preaching' is opinionizing. It brings dishonor to the ministry. How many regenerate people can listen to that stuff regularly? Surely Christians in Chicago deserve biblical sermons. Talk about broken cisterns!!

Has Obama attended service at this Church since the new Pastor took over? With him being on the campaign trail I wouldn't think he has been in service lately.

Also, it's sad to me when a presidential hopefull's weakness is his religion. I don't know how he got connected with this Church but it seems to be his only weakness. What does it mean for Christianity as a whole when it is the only fault people can find in you?

Well, LeBuick, I think a lot of conservative Christians ignore the 1st Amendment and want to entangle the church and the government together.

Yeah, and a lot of liberals want the state to do away with churches.

Some here will never give Obama a chance. Their hatred for the man defies Christianity.

More unfounded accusation. Nobody here hates him. Quit with the BB smear campaign against those who do not care for your hero.

Wow, the usual faulty arithmetic by the liberals.
    Scrutiny plus race equals hate.

Well, what would you call what Abraham did to Sarah? ;)

Ken, I think more liberals want to blur church and state than conservatives with the socialism, nanny state, and regulation of speech.

there...I just made both sides mad at me
