The focus of this thread and the question of the OP is specifically related to BHO's faith and his church. This thread is not about Geroge W. Bush any way, shape, or form. If you seriously want to discuss the faith and church of President Bush please feel free to start a thread on that topic and stop trying to drive this thread off topic and divert the attention here to a red herring argument.

Just checking on where your statements are coming from. You can determine someone's objectivity by statements they've made in the past. Ever praised George Bush's Christianity?

Let's see if we can get this thread back on topic by taking a look at the above two linked interviews with BHO regarding his faith and beliefs and then talking about what he has said on the subject.

    Some links you may appreciate:
    Christianity Today: Obama Q&A
    CNN: Saddleback Forum transcript

Obama was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ which is a black-centric church in a white dominated liberal Christian denomination. He left the church over controversial statements from its former pastor and is now looking for a home church.

Like, George Bush, he is a member of a liberal Christian denomination and personally espouses the belief that there are multiple religious paths to God. These are criteria that many on these forums use to declare a person non-Christian.

The subject of this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with George W. Bush. The OP did not ask for anyone to compare BHO's beliefs with those of any other political figure. So can we please stay on topic. If you seriously want to discuss the faith and beliefs of any other political figure please feel free to start a new thread on that topic.

I was just wondering, the tone of this thread made it seem as if it was one of the requirements to be president. It helps me also when a candidate is a Christian but I have yet to see a politician live up to my Christian expectation so I say it's between them and their God. Most of not all politicians seem to have a problem with the truth. Even a card carrying Christian might continually make untrue statements about a bridge even though everyone listening knows the truth. I guess it's just a job hazzard.

A non-Christian because his theology is off? There are many pew sitters and folks in the pulpit whose theology is off. The question is does he have a right relation with the Master. That none of us can judge.

    1. What was the lifetime achievement award for? Certainly not for Farakan's Christianity so the award doesn't appear religious based.

    2. From what I can remember, Obama called for Muslims, Jews and Christians to come together for the task of improving the community and not worshiping God. If there are multiple religions in a neighborhood then multiple religion will need to work together to solve the problems in that neighborhood or together they will sink.

This quote reveals that BHO bases his salvation upon his works rather than the blood of Jesus Christ.
This quote reveals that BHO holds himself (“my values”) to be the arbiter of what is sin and what is not.
This quote reveals that BHO elevates himself above the authority of God’s word and God Himself with respect to how he will be rewarded for his good works and/or punished for his sins.
Can anyone find Scripture that would support these beliefs?

Because it's obvious that he doesn't know who Jesus is (he says a historical figure and teacher)

Believes sin is violating his own personal values.

Doesn't believe there is a heaven or hell. His idea of punishment for violating his own values (sin) is a guilty conscience.

Doesn't believe faith in Christ is the only way to salvation

The guy doesn't have a clue and it's obvious he hasn't surrendered his life to Christ.
He has surrendered his life to his own value system instead.

Or possibly just the Black Value System espoused by his church.

Mat 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

How does this description compare to that of George W Bush, the evangelical Christian candidate is the last two elections? GW claimed that Christians and Muslims worship the same god and Muslins will go to heaven but "by a different route" than Christians. Let's don't be hypocritical.

Who's being hypocritical? Ever since GW Bush allowed muslims to pray to allah in the White House and said Jews, Christians, and muslims worship the same god, I've said he doesn't worship the same God as I do. Same goes for Obama. By their fruits we know them and Jeremiah Wright preached hatred, not love. Besides, GW isn't the topic of this thread.

We should pray that he, and all our leaders, would be and would truly act accordingly!

There are many Churches and people in Churches with bad theology. Does that make him a bad President?

A lot of things make Obama a bad President. But this information just shows he is lost.

Ok, he lost my vote for Pope but what does this have to do with being President?
