I have no intent in closing the thread. I am more than happy to let the Scriptures speak to the matter of socialism, a subject that the OP squarely addressed.

Given how the case is going, though, I can fully understand why you might want the thread closed.

But do not misrepresent me. I speak to the OP, and I use the Scriptures to support my case. For a change, you guys might try using the Scriptures to support your position on the matter of socialism.

I've noticed that you try to lead any anti-Obama thread astray with your convoluted and off topic interpretations of scripture.

 

Care to debate the scriptures with me? Please, then, go ahead. Provide the Biblical texts that support your position on the matter of socialism and let's go at it. I have raised numerous texts to support the view that God belongs "in government" in the sense that his values should be enshrined in the law of the land and not left to purely secular forces. I have argued that the parable of the lost sheep has political implications and advocates for a kind of socialism.

What do I get in response. Smileys and accusations of twisting the Scriptures and basically no scriptural counter-arguments at all. Which is interesting since this is about a five to one situation. Surely, between the lot of you, you can think of some Scriptures to support your position?

I am more than happy to keep this focused on what the Scriptures have to say.

 

:laugh: Well RevM is great at giving short statements like, "You do not know what you are talking about." But it is like finding hen's teeth to get a substantial answer out of him. He has yet to answer a question such as I posed earlier. I find it amusing that a preacher seems to have no critical thinking skills ... or if he does he will not or cannot answer simple questions. His hatred shows through so clearly.

 

That is an interesting observation and I think it would be interesting to discuss them in a different or new thread. People like to selectively apply them in arguments today, but not others ... such as the cloth.

I would like it if he did debate, but he doesn't. He only makes pronouncements and never answers questions. So, you are quite wrong. He refuses to debate, only make one line comments and post links. But debate? Nope, he never does.

You brought the subject up. So, let's get back to the debate. People should not misquote or alter any politicians words in an attempt to hurt them. Fair criticism is fine, but much of what has been linked to Obama is misquotation and altered quotes, and this is very unethical or un-Christian.
