October: Clergy Appreciation Day...

    ...or month, depending on your church, or maybe your church doesn't participate at all. I don't have an issue having a day or month set aside to honor a pastor. I appreciate my pastor everyday and often tell him how much I appreciate his wisdom, guidance and leadership. I don't always agree with everything he does or says, but he has never steered me wrong, and his love and devotion for our Lord is praiseworthy.

    I would hope the church would let their pastors know we appreciate them year round and not just one day in October. If we only let them know once a year how much we appreciate them, that makes for a rough rest of the year. Our church is hosting a dinner this year with our pastor and his family as honored guests.

    Does your church have a time in the year they set aside to show a special appreciation for the pastor? If so, what are some of the ways? Do you include all ordained staff members?
