    Another delicacy in Indonesia:

In the covered market in Jogjakarta they sell bats, smoked. They're only about three inches long, like skeletal brown mice. Supposedly taste like beef jerky.

Mayo is normal here as well, but we prefer it along with ketchup and mustard.

A Japanese missionary to Thailand recently brought us some sembei (rice crackers for the uninitiated) that had two flavors: konomiyaki (a kind of non-sweet pancake with veggies, shrimp, etc. in it) and takoyaki (fried dough balls with octopus in it). Yum!

The standard for burgers in Texas seems to be mustard. I found that odd when I first got here, although I don't mind mustard on burgers.

    This is under "other oddities".

My family gets a kick out of my ability and lack of self control when it comes to falling asleep. They find it particularly humorous to find me asleep kneeling at the couch when praying in the morning... fully dressed besides my tie. I have been late to work for sleeping up to close to an hour on my knees... and I have bad knees....

    Oh yeah...

I also have a really bad "lazy eye". My let eye is rated about 20/100, when I drive, I squint it like a pirate for some reason.

One day after about 3 years of marriage, my wife noticed it... we have no idea how long I have been driving with one eye... but I catch myself doing it all the time.

There's peanut butter, jelley, cheese and balogna sandwiches.

There's pizza with an egg on top.

There's tortilla with lunch meat and cheese - I call it a torwich

And there's always tums for the tummy

Back in the early 1960s, Dr. Pepper had an ad campaign promoting hot Dr. Pepper. The ads suggesting bringing the Dr. Pepper to a simmer (not yet to a boil), and drink it like coffee.

I tried it, and boy did it go down easy. But it lost some of the taste in the process. The ad campaign fizzled out.

In the South we call that larrupin'--in other words, so good it'll make your teeth itch.

    Tom,

It had to have been later than the early 60's because I remember seeing ads in Ladies magazines for it -- in the winter maybe? To serve on a cold winter's night? It had little slices of lemon sitting on top of the drink. I can't believe I would remember something like that from the early 60's.

A former pastor of mine put tabasco sauce on his french fries.

When I was a kid, I put catchup (or ketchup) (or catsup) with a lot of stuff.

Catsup on scrambled or fried eggs.
    Catsup on blackeyed peas
    Catsup on mashed potatoes.

I put mustard (dijon) on my fried eggs.

I'm from Texas, so mustard on burgers is a standard. When we moved to the real south, I was shocked to find anything else on them
