This is the first election since 1988 where the winner got over 50% of the vote.

Does anyone have a good source for the election demographics? I am interested in how much of a difference evangelicals made as well as how much Bush increased his share of the black vote.

CNN had Bush increasing his share of blacks by 2%... of course this comes from the same polling that had basically given Kerry the election by mid-day yesterday.

BTW, I think my conservative brethren are going overboard with their conspiracy theories on the exit polls. Those polls simply didn't take the objectives of the Bush ground game/GOTV into account. Exit polls depend on certain polling places acting as barometers. Bush stopped courting undecides several weeks ago and turned to squeezing more votes out of the "red" counties.

Maybe there was a conspiracy. But I don't think it was in the exit polling. For instance, I am very suspicious that Mark Halperin's memo was just the tip of a large iceberg among the inbred mainstream media. For the past month, Bush has received overwhelming and continuous negative press while it has been hands off for Kerry. It is very hard to believe that this was completely incidental considering the behavior of CBS, Halperin, the NYT, etc.

The NYT was most definitely trying to create an October surprise with the "380 tons" story- which appears to have been coordinated with the Kerry campaign.

We will see what they can do with a GOP President and GOP control of both the House and Senate. The next two years will show what they really stand for and what their priorities are.
