1 Thessalonians 5:15 See that none render evil for evil unto any [man]; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all [men].

1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

All of those are things you are to do, but may or may not have anything to do with who you are. For example, you and I can both do each of these things listed, and not be anything alike at all. I'm a quite kind of guy, a little bit on the shy side. You may be the opposite. I love to play music, it's something that comes very easy for me. Never had a guitar lesson, but I play pretty well, if I do say so myself. You may not have a musical bone in your body. I'm a very affectionate person. Hugs are extremely common at our house. That's who I am. That's the way God created me to be. It would be a mistake for me to try to be a loud, super outgoing, "never met a stranger" life of the party type. That's what RW is saying - don't try to be what you're not, be who God created you to be. You be you. I think that's pretty clear, but some folks are so bent on being critical of RW that they will jump on anything and try to twist into something wrong.

I understand, although I still do not agree that those kinds of evaluations from the pulpit are preaching the Word of God. Maybe Rick Warren would make a good psychoanalyst.
BTW I love to play the guitar and I play by ear too. Here is a little 30 second intro to Hotel California I played on an 1982 Ovation 1651. After listening to it, I wished I had of paused where the Eagles did, but it you can still decipher what it is.

Not bad:applause: I love the way an Ovation sounds, but the round back doesn't mesh well with my round front, so it feels like I'm chasing the guitar around the room. I have a Taylor 214 that I've had for about a year now.

Not sure the setting for that youtube video. I've seen RW preach a few times and I've never seen him sit on a stool like that before. I've used several of his sermon outlines and most always have a pretty clear Gospel presentation. If you've seen him preach or looked at one of his outlines, he tends to be pretty long winded, so it's safe to assume there was a lot more than the half minute on the video.

That was so funny! Thanks for making my da...I mean morning.

I sold that guitar on EBay for a friend down the street. I attached that file to the auction so people could hear it. It was so enjoyable to play I was almost wishing it would not sell, so I could see if he would take my Takemine and some cash for a swap. Never played a Taylor, but I hear they make a fine instrument.

I think the radio announcer hit the nail..Rick puts the focus on a changed life, not the Life Changer. This is the biggest issue I have with the Church Growth Movement. It's man-centered, rather than God-centered.

I personally have concerns about RW but if he is leading people to the Lord not intellectually but spiritually then he should be commended. If he has another agenda then he should be exposed. One thing is certain Christians need to find out if this was a cut and paste out of context or fact. The answer should determine whether the blogger has his own agenda. If Warren is wrong then he needs our prayers, if the bloger is playing games then he needs to be ignored and believers need to quit supporting these antics.

I agree with you on this SBC. I'm not particularly fond of RW - there's just something 'too slick' about him and some of his twisting of scripture just leaves me feeling nauseous, but, OTH, he has led many to Christ, so I suppose even God can do things with people/situations in spite of how we mortals think someone may be fit/unfit for the job.

PS: I was thinking the same thing as many others here - the review sounded too much like 1 minute sound bytes and really didn't do justice to hearing RW's whole text. I was annoyed with that too.

Please explain how a blind leader can lead anyone to the truth. Christ said when the blind lead the blind they both fall into the ditch.

In order for your statement to hold true, you would have to first prove that RW is blind. (unsaved)

I'm convinced that a lost person can stand and read the Scriptures out loud, and another lost person can hear that Scripture, respond to it and be saved. The power to save in in the Word of God, not the messenger. I have never saved anyone, but I have led many to faith in Christ through the proclamation of His Word.

BTW, I am not at all saying that I think Rick Warren is lost. I am simply responding to the quoted statement.

I was using Queenbee's initial reference to RW as a preface to my statement, when she said that he twisted scripture.
