The Lord Jesus Christ is the one Shepherd of the one sheepfold (Jn. 10:16). This one sheepfold consists of Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians who have lost their ethnic distinctiveness in Christ. They are just Christians or simply disciples of Christ.

You have already admitted that "the flock" is used for a geographical kind of church located in a geographical located city. Therefore, it cannot only be ONE in kind as you have TWO obvious kinds and the only way it is ONE in number is in regard to the sheep's own particular flock.

The church of Christ is not an Old Testament reality as its foundation was laid with the apostles (Eph. 2:20) and as the apostles were set "first" in the church (1 Cor. 12:28).

However, there are types of the church in the Old Testament that prefigure it. The bride of Solomon in the Song of Solomon many theologions feel is a type of the church as the church is represented as a chaste virgin to be presented to Christ (2 Cor. 11:2). The temple as "the house of God" is certainly a type of the church with its qualified ministry and administration of the ordinances as the local church is called a "temple" (1 Cor. 3:16) and likened unto a spiritual temple with preists that offer up spiritual sacrifices (1 Pet. 2:5). The church is also likened unto the "nation" of Israel as the visible manifestation of the kingdom of God on earth (1 Pet. 2:9-10; Mt. 21:43) especially as Israel was assembled at Mount Sinai.

I was really talking about the concept of one shepherd of one flock from two fold of sheep.
