Nail hit squarely on the head.........

If we read the Bible....We find out Jesus Christ is/was/and always will be God! The way, the truth, the life, and the only way to come to the Father!

[IMG] My own opinion on why Barna's poll results are what they are is simple.....

TOO MUCH "PSYCHO-BABBLE".....NOT ENOUGH SOUND DOCTRINAL PREACHING FROM OUR PULPITS!

There is far too much focus on self, individual "needs" and NOT enough focus on the Person and Work of our Blessed Saviour and His Word.

Yes Gregory, I believe there is a big problem there at the sending end of it, but also there is a big problem at the receiving end. Diane earlier pointed out 2Timothy 4:3 concerning the time that will come when they will not endure (I like the way the the N.I.V. puts it: They will not put up with) sound doctrine.
Are we in the "falling away?" (2Th. 2:3)

With the term "Christian" being so watered down today as to mean almost anything from "born again, blood washed, redeemed, child of God" to "my parents went to church occasionally", maybe he was just trying to emphasize that he wasn't part of the latter? Just a thought.

</font>[/QUOTE]&lt;&lt;--wondering how many consider "being baptist" as more revered than being christian?

As far as the statement above, I imagine there are a number of baptists who claim being baptist because of Mom and Dad, or "I've always been a baptist", or "that's how I grew up"...etc.

I don't find that poll surprising at all. Sad? Yes, but not surprising.

Are there any figures for the number of Baptists who believe the first eleven chapters of the Bible?

    Folks

I am sickened, saddened, and made to fear the imminent WRATH of the Holy, Sinless, Savior and His Father. But, I guess they do not believe that He is a Jealous God ...

Too many polictically correct speeches made from the pulpit and not enough doctrine is being taught. Was anyone on the BB polled, somehow I question those figures. [IMG]

A poll can be worded in such a way as to verify any position. We see this all the time in the liberal news media. For example, ABC says that one of their polls confirms that most Americans favor starving a disabled lady to death. Of course we know that is not true. But "the polls says so" has become the god of authority in our land.

I am not so surprised that Baptists (in general) are confused. The mormon's greatest prospect is a bapist who does not know his bible. Check it out. Many mormon converts claim they were once "baptist".

Wheat and tares, people, wheat and tares.

    In HIS service;

Agreed. I'd like to see how these questions were phrased and how the sample was determined.

I searched under baptist on the Barna site and under Barna on the Associated Baptist Press site and came up empty.

Could someone provide evidence for these findings.

If the findings are true, I for one am in the 40, 65 and 22.
