    Orlando shooting exposes so many of America’s faultlines


    As relatives grieve and a nation mourns, America’s political class will pick through the wreckage of the heinous events in Orlando and try to frame the tragedy in a way that suits their agenda. Those who hoped a tragedy of this nature might be extracted from partisan politics will be sorely disappointed.

    Perhaps because the extremists in groups like Al Qaeda and ISIS encourage it.

    I can't give an exact reason on why, but I can tell you that in Iraq and Afghanistan IED attacks rose between 30-50% during Ramadan.

    Perhaps it's heightened religious awareness and killing the infidel is such a deeply ingrained precept of islam that they consider it a way of illustrating their devotion to it.
