Raising the capital gains rate is really stupid. In fact, I don't think there should be any capital gains tax, which would be a great way to grow business and create new and higher paying jobs. I would be for [slightly] higher marginal rates in order to eliminate the c.g. tax.

Yes, we had a constitution and a president 5 years after the war had ended. The Iraqis wrote a constitution and elected a president while the war was still being fought. No small feat I'd say.

The Taliban? They are a Pashtun tribal group that previously ruled in Afghanistan.

But anyway, Al Qaeda had no intention of leaving Iraq:
"The first stage: Expel the Americans from Iraq...The second stage: Establish an Islamic authority or emirate, then develop it and support it until it achieves the level of a caliphate—over as much territory as you can to spread its power in Iraq." - Ayman al-Zawahiri

So it is your position that 5 years is the limit or people are taking to long? It is an unrealistic time line.

They are there because they see a void with Saddam gone. They will leave when Iraq runs them out.

The reason we invaded and and the fact that Iraq is the front of the war on terror are both true and separate issues at the same time. You can ignore what the Alqaeda leaders as well as Our ground commanders have said if you want but following Democratic talking points is no real point.

I find it interesting that Palin is in the lead on this poll.

    1. It will still be lower than before Bush took office which was 28%.

    2. These new jobs you say a owner tax will create are created overseas so it benefits American's how? Answer... It doesn't, it just allows the rich to keep getting richer.

Don't excuse the statistic that there are just over 100K "small businesses" that fit this over $250k category.

Why? This board is heavily pro-Republican.

???? Isn't the war still being fought? How can we pull out without a government in place? Doesn't this mean there is no choice but to erect a government while the war is being fought?

That was my point, they came to Iraq to fight us.

Exactly my point, Iraqi citizens need to become a self supporting, self defending nation. What, are we going to stay there and defend them forever? There will be a civil war when we leave and there is no stopping that. We can leave tomorrow or 100 years from tomorrow and there will be a civil war when we leave.

Yes, that's what every business owner does all the time - they ship every single job overseas, without question. In fact, I'm surprised that anyone has a job left here in America, since every single one of them has been sent overseas.

Such idiotic, hate-the-rich statements are becoming quite tiresome. I never knew the Bible allowed us to hate rich people like this.

And BTW, what is inherently wrong with a rich person getting to keep more of their income instead of the bloated governement getting it?

I'd say, this is a real scientific poll and a cross section of America. :BangHead:

PS.. I voted for Palin in this poll so I can give the conservatives a false since of winning. I decided I will do the same if I get another poll by phone.

    Isn't America great?

Love your sarcasm but let me add on option, "or they give it to an illegal immigrant who they can pay under the table."

There you go, go at it...

I hate no one but let's look at a couple of things.

The guys I am against (not hating but speaking against) are not the small business owners who would create jobs here for one. I'm still trying to find out how many of these "small businesses" make more than $250K/yr profit before I believe Obama plan is not allowing that portion of the economy to flourish.

I speak against the CEO's of the large corporations who are raking in big salaries and even larger bonuses. Before you defend them remember this, the CEO is just another employee of the company just like the janitor who cleans the restrooms. They do not own the company so they don't deserve any special benefits from the profits. Now these companies have proved they will create jobs overseas if they possibly can. Geed is what I call it.

It is going to get down right evil here in October

It is going to get down right evil here in October

You can hear the desperation and accusatory threads that are trying to propagandize people into inflamed emotions.

Sarah Palin lives to see another day and she gains credibility, and her base that really wants to see her as President and not John McCain goes forward.

but I think Joe Biden won and I base that on a personal premise that he is ready to step in and be President but I can understand Sarah's people on why they think she won, she really energizes them.

so what will be the big October Surprise someone should start a Poll.

Now it is clearly back on to John McCain and he has already goofed up by pulling out of Michigan the night of the debate, not exactly a vote of confidence for Sarah who really wanted to go there and fight.

I don't think it is worth to say anything more about Sarah Palin it is all John McCain now and Barack Obama the VP's will now take a backseat.

but I told you so: Sarah Palin is a Feminist

    James 2:5-6
5 Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
6 But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?

There you have it: Dragonfly has found his verse to take out of context in order to justify his hatred of rich people.

(Too bad he truncated the passage and failed to read verses 8-9.)

Just jealous. Now, I am not rich, but my son's in-laws think I am because I actually have a job and a house.

Rich is when you don't have to work, and you don't need to ask how much something costs.

You know what, I don't like when CEO's do that, either. But what I don't like even more is having the government meddle in the whole mess. As long as someone isn't committing fraud, then I see no Biblical justification of using the sword to keep people from making as much money as they are able to. I think the corporate boards who allow CEO's to rape companies like that are doing a great disservice to the company and its shareholders, but I am loathe to let the government get involved, unless there is something fraudulent going on, of course.

But we were talking about the capital gains tax originally, which is really an inherently anti-capitalistic tax.

Andy, the economy just crashed. You think Enron and WorldCom are the only companies cooking the books. Come on man, it's time we put an end to this mess.

Cooking the books is fraudulent. Making money honestly is not (and yes, many rich people make their money honestly). We are both against the former, but you are against anyone being rich period, no matter how honestly they attain it. Or it at least that's how you come across in many of your class envy posts.

You sir are telling a lie if you are saying that I hate rich people. I work for a multi-millionaire who I like and respect very much. I just quoted Scripture. Take up your dislike for these verses with James, or perhaps God!

I'm not opposed to any rich person. I wish they would adopt me as a distant cousin. Again, I am against how some become rich. These executives who get big salaries don't own the companies, they are employee's like any other employee. Those are the ones who chap my hide.

I believe in capitalism and all in favor of entrepreneurship. I also believe they should pay their fare share of taxes which means closing off loopholes.
