    If your answer is "Yes":

    -When?
    -For how long?
    -For what purpose?
    -Was the purpose accomplished?

    If your answer is "No":

    -Would you ever like to?
    -For what purpose?

I have been at my present church for over 12 years now. In the seventh year of service here, the church gave me a sabbatical of six weeks to get away and be refreshed. It was a great time of renewal for my personal walk, for my wife and kids. It gave me the opportunity to just go to a church and worship with my family and also to glean from what others were doing. It help me not to be to tunnel visioned. I am very grateful for my church doing this. I believe it led to my longevity in service here.

I needed one, but our church was too small and I didn't have anyone to fill the pulpit. Until a year ago, my vacations were mon-Sat. I think it would have been good a couple years ago for me to get away for a month. Just like Bro. Tony, it would have been an opportuntiy to be preached to and renew family and personal walks.

Does time to recuperate from surgery count? I suspect the majority of my people think it does. [IMG]

    Very few churches allow sabbaticals.

I think they should offer such to all paid staff.

We set up a sabbatical program for 6 months after 10 years. Seems a long time to wait and I voted against it - would rather see 6-7 years and take 3 months + maybe a trip to Holy Land or to Europe/Reformation heritage.
