Well what you call breast thumping, others may call thanking the Lord for His great blessings. Gratitude you know.

True. But no one ever criticized a church for scolding Trump or his policies. Most are strangely silent on that.

So no, there is no alter in a Baptist church.

The older generation sang "Battle Hymn of the Republic" in church all the time. This song was not sung at a religious function according to the pastor, who was on TV explaining that.

Another historical note, most churches have the American flag. A hundred years ago, The Salvation Army was taking a lot of heat for being an English denomination operating in the USA and elsewhere. The Salvationists took to waving the American flag at their services to hush the hostile Americans.

" or represented as coming from our religious beliefs." This certainly looks like the case wherever it was performed. However I clearly saw organ pipes behind the choir.

That is kind of weird given the wealth of opportunities available.

I have seen them in some Baptists local churches.

And in fact sometimes an "altar" call is made to come forth to said altar for rededication of life, etc.

Also it is used to place the bread and grape juice on during the Lord's Supper.

Yes it is used in a symbolic manner. I attended Baptist churches most of my life but have never seen an actual alter in any of them.

And when you look into it, many nations have Christian symbols on their national flags. Possibly a relic of times when such things were not frowned upon.

Except that was not made clear in your post. You painted them as
So where is this quote from a church that has said God is on our side?

We have one in my local church - it's wood and carved on the front is "IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME".

Everyone of us understands the symbolism.

However, a case can be made that it is a throwback to the Church of Rome.
Without any theological implications of transubstantiation of course.

That quote is engraved on a table at the front of every Baptist church that I've ever attended, and of course refers to taking communion. As you pointed out HankD. :Wink

Yes, a blessed and precious ordinance whereby we do show the LORD's death til He come.
