This is a poll to determine the differences (or lack thereof) between Calvinists and non-Calvinists concerning attitude toward the Purpose-Driven Life, and Purpose-Driven Church, and Rick Warren.

I voted, Other, Other and Disliked and that I was a Calvinist.

I could vote about PDL because I don't know much about it (other than a bunch of people bought it).

I thought PDC had a few good points in it.

I dislike his philosophy because it seems as if his focus is more on what the church should be doing and less on what the church should be.

it's interesting that there are no votes yet for Calvinsists who like any of the three options.

That was my personal hypothesis, but I wanted to see how true it was with this poll.

Well, now there's one. I like PDL in that I do not dislike it too much**. For what it is, it is OK, if only because it gets people thinking about htings that many people never think about.

Don't know anything about PDC, so that was not me.

About Warren's philosophy of ministry, what I know of it seems OK**. I know a lot of people do not care for the way things are done at Saddleback but many of the ones whose objections I have read seem to not like it because of preferences.

** Disclaimer - I do not agree with everything that Warren has to say in PDL, and I do not necessarily approve of everything that he does.

I have done much study on the Purpose Driven garbage and it is a man centered poison that is feeding off the ignorant church. It is new age, business practices that uses Christian terminology that's all. It's PURPOSE is to get people in church to raise money. It is pragmatic and NOT Biblically based at all. It is also sponsoring a Bible translation that changes the Bibles "relatability" into "modern" terms... I.E. "The Lord is my CEO" instead of shepard... BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD !!!! Stay away from it. If you hear anything GOOD about it in your church, I'll guarantee they are on the 3 phase program to CHANGE the thinking of the laymen to turn into a PDC. GET OUT !!!

From your post it's clear you have done ZERO studying on PDL. Just admit, you believe in predestination and regardless of what anyone does in evangelism, it makes no difference to you because the "elect" will all make it to Heaven, anyway! I would be careful in calling PDL garbage! What is your purpose in life?

    Webdog,
No webdog, I'm not even thinking about TULIP. Put that aside. And I've done alot of homework on it. And the way you come across defensively I would tell you save yourself. Be wise. Study, it is absolute GARBAGE. I'll come right out and say it is evil. It's dishonoring God and belittling His Word. It is throwing peoples lives out the window for the sake of income. It is new age puke that has been regurgitated from Warrren to His "master" Robert Schuller who got it from his "master" Norman Vincent Peale who got it from his "master" SATAN. You want to throw down about who knows what, I am patient when it comes to theology, but I will not tolerate puke like this.

Now there is some sound advice -- if this is your mentality, you would definitely be better to get out. I am sure no one would be more thrilled than the pastor.
