    Bob,
If you read Acts 15, starting with verse 12 through the end of the chapter, it appears that Paul is present throughout this whole council.

Note particularly 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

    15:21
For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

    15:22
Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

    15:23
And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.

    15:24
Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

    15:25
It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

However if you look at Acts 21:15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

    21:16
There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

    21:17
And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

    21:18
And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

    21:19
And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

    21:20
And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

    21:21
And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

    21:22
What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

    21:23
    Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

    21:24
Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

    21:25
As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

    21:26
Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

And it's truly frightening how some can be so dogmatically confident in their belief that the pope is the antichrist.

The early Fathers identified the Antichrist as a government official—a king coming to power in the ruins of the Roman Empire. He would probably be Jewish, possibly from the tribe of Dan. And most importantly, rather than claiming like the pope to be the vicar or emissary of Jesus Christ, he would claim that Jesus was not the Christ but that he was instead. He would then seduce many of the Jewish people by attempting to fulfill the political aspirations they held for the Messiah.

Did you know that Holy Scripture is very precise in revealing just WHO Antichrist really is?

1."Dear children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have risen; whereby we know it is the last hour."
    1John 2:18

2."Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is the antichrist who denies the Father and the Son."
    1John 2:22

3."And And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."
    1John 4:3.

4."For many deceivers have gone forth into the world who do not confess Jesus as the Christ coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist."
    2John 1:7.

Antichrist could not possibly be the Pope since he meets none of the qualifications. The Pope has never denied that Jesus is the Christ, has never denied the Father and Son, and he has never severed Jesus.

    Agreed.

Here it is clear that Paul is there. In fact it is clear that he is there when Peter speaks and during the entire council.

    No doubt about it.

In fact the ENTIRE REASON that the council is meeting is due to a dispute BETWEEN Paul and the Judaizers (or should I say Paul-and-Barnabas on one side - and the Judaizers on the other).

There was no point in meeting if BOTH sides were not going to be there.

Clearly Paul is mentioned all through this.

    He was there.

So we are agreed. He IS there.

    And so??

    What is the problem?

Paul returns and finds that he is being accused of trashing the Laws of God. He is asked to PROVE to the group that HE HIMSELF follows them while not insisting that Gentiles become Jews (in perfect accord with the Acts 15 decision AND with ALL of the OT and with everything that Paul taught and did).

Notice that in Acts 16 immediately after the Acts 15 council Paul has Timothy Circumcised.

The Acts 15 council was NOT a decision that "the Word of God is dead" or that the "Scriptures are dead" or that "The OT text is no longer scripture".

    As some suppose.

    In Christ,

    Bob

Though I agree with you on the role that the RCC has played throughout history - I also pray for this man and that he should not suffer at this time of life. I pray that he will be counted among the saints and that he is in a state of full surrender to Christ.

I pray also for his family and friends that they should be fully saved in Christ so that they may spend eternity with him in Heaven.

I know that I will enjoy pressing a point our two with him there.

Everyone has made mistakes in this life and I know that he is no different in that respect - Still I think he has been a model church leader.

    In Christ,

    Bob

the pope couldn't possibly be The Antichrist of end times because he doesn't fit the criteria.
The Antichrist of end times will rule over the political, economical and religious of the world with a lineage linking him to David. The papal office , whoever is there at the end times, will most likely be the false prophet, which this pope fit, with his adoration to Mary, the black Mary to be specific, which links him to the false religions of the world that all have a common denominator, adoration of a Madonna, the ying and yang, Isis and Iris, etc.
I pray for the Pope as a human being dying that he does not suffer, that he realizes in his final hours that Jesus Christ is his saviour, not Mary.

    Popery and the Antichrist--

Is it not curious that the Holy See would even be considered such by millions of believers--for many centuries?

Surely someone has been duped, deceived and beguiled.

What saith the Scripture: "It is not wonder, Satan himself is become an angel of light".

Satan is alive and well on planet earth--not for long.

The Pope does profess that Jesus is His Savior.

Once again, please look at the Scripture Passages on the Antichrist.

    1John 2:22

3."And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."
    1John 4:3.

4."For many deceivers have gone forth into the world who do not confess Jesus as the Christ coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist."
    2John 1:7.

One more point, there is not any mention of the word Antichrist is Revelations.

When Revelations was written, the first Christians believed that they were living in the end times

The Revelation of Jesus Christ--The Apocolypse, has a lot of scripture which refer to the Antichrist--see "the mark of the beast--666".

See also the "mother of harlots" and reckon whom she might be.

The first Christians were living at the end of time--so are we. We are near the mid-night hour of the second day since Jesus walked the earth--in God's time--"a thousand years is a day...".

The ending of this "day" will leave most "religious" bewildered and their leaders stunned.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

In Rev 12 a pure woman ( a pure church) flees into the wilderness pursued by the dragon (the dragon is Satan and his agent pagan Rome is persecuting the church) The pure church in Rev 12 gives birth to Christ - who is then taken up into heaven. Then the pure church (pure woman) is persecutred...

In Rev 17 an impure woman is seen coming OUT of the wilderness - (an impure church) - and that impure church is a persecuting power that dominates/controls many nations. She sits on seven hills. She is called Babylon. And the RC posters here admit that in 1Peter 5 Babylon refers to Rome.

But in Rev 12 there is some kind of split - because the saints are those in Rev 12 that keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus during that time of persecution.

In Daniel 7 the 4th world empire (Pagan Roman Empire) is split into 10 parts - then an 11th ruler takes over and removes 3 of the 10. This ruler is then the dominant force in what was the old dominion of the Pagan Roman world -- for 1260 years -- during the dark ages -- persecuting the saints -- infusing error into the Church. (At least that is what happens in Daniel 7)

hmmm wonder how that fits with history.

    In Christ,

    Bob

Now is a good time to buy "holy" relics. Get a T-shirt while they last.

"Father, forgive them, they know not what they do."
