Pets in Heaven

Actually, the Bible doesn't tell us much about what Heaven will be like. Will we spend all our time praising God and not recognize or care about anything or anyone else? Or will Heaven be the ultimate family reunion and we will be welcomed by our previously diseased family members? We don't know. All I get is that we will be infinitely happy and without worry. For me that means that my two golden retrievers will be there but I can't support that with scripture any more than I can support that I'll once again see my grandfather, grandmother, and father. It's all speculation.

 

One thing about it is that the sea will not be in existence. And, I like the sea.

As far as I can tell we can not prove definitively that our pets will go to heaven, and we can not prove definitively that they wont.

Scriptures have been posted on this thread that seem to lean in the "yes" direction, and others that seem to lean in the "no" direction. I think this is just an area where we are free to our convictions, and we will find out in due time after we arrive in Glory.

But I will tell the world that I am an animal lover, and I've almost always tried to have some kind of pet. My favorite are dogs, and let me tell you something. I want my dog...THIS DOG....to be in heaven....:thumbs:

It's been a long time since I've seen that episode, but wasn't it that the dog refused to enter through that first gate? And so the old hunter, who wouldn't go without his dog, proceeded on to the next gate, where the gatekeeper welcomed them and was told about their experience at the first gate-- and the gatekeeper told them they almost were suckered into going to hell. That (first)gatekeeper was a liar, of course, who told them it is heaven; but fortunately the dog sniffed hot sulphur and instinctively knew going toward it was dangerous.

 

But would it really be Heaven if cats were there?

The trouble, though, I think, in using that passage as evidence that animals don't go to Heaven is that "as the one dieth, so dieth the other" and "all go unto one place...." could be a prooftext that no person goes to Heaven either. And we know that's not true.

I don't know on the pets thing... I have my "druthers", and I know that some animals will be there, but I know not about all.
