Phil Rizzuto, shortstop for the Yankees, has died. Phil died in his sleep Monday night after a long term of poor health. He was 89.

Casey Stengel told him he was too small and should go get his shoe polish box. But he signed a contract and then went into the military during WW2.

Played some great short stop for the Yankees in the late 40's and 50's. HOLY COW!

He really wanted to be a Dodger, but played for the Yanks. Sad to see him go.
