I just want to share photos of rare bibles that I took at a library archive, dating back to 1575 A.D. and so on.

    I hope you enjoy them.

    Priceless Photos, actually.

Just viewing them actually brought a tear to my eye, contemplating what Luther went through, and the blood of the martyrs such as Tyndale, Hus, and Wycliffe, that preceeded these versions. :tear:

    Thanks, TCGreek.

Incidentally, a couple more comments. :type:

I agree on the diakonos and doulos, to a degree.

I am fairly comfortable with either propitiation or expiation for hilasterion.

I do not believe that MacArthur's new edition will change anything in that debate, at all.

And as to the "one size fits all Bibles", you have somehow managed to overlook the three main versions in this - namely the KJV, NIV, and D/R, based on numbers alone. No other versions have even come close to those first two, historically, among English versions, with the possible exception of the D/R, which surely is at least in third place, from what I understand, at least. How much any of them actually get read and used is another matter, entirely.

    I think so too.

It's amazing when we consider that these men were willing to die for these matters. I too am moved.

Well, I am glad that you agree with me on those issues.

I agree with the MacArthur evaluation.

Yes, I should have included the KJV, NIV and D/R. Perhaps in a future post I'll do so.
