I still remember Michael Stewart, the artschool student, who was supposedly graffitiing a subway car when he encountered 6 cops. This short, slender guy apparently went plumb crazy and attacked 6 big, well-armed cops. The city coroner ruled death by natural causes, specifically cardiac arrest. When the family wanted an independent autopsy, his eyeballs (which could indicate strangulation) went missing. That, more than 30 years ago, was my introduction to racial politics in NYC.

It hasn't changed much.

 

Why wasn't Colin Ferguson charged with a hate crime ?

Then there was the Tawana Brawley thing...more questions than answers....

There was Jesse Jacksons anti-semetic remarks abbout NYC....

But we know all racists are white cops.

As obvious as it is the only the South is racist it is obvious that onyl white people are racist.

 

It's a good thing the north had that wonderfull civil rights worker Abraham Lincoln to set us folks straight down here.

 

The Tawana Brawley thing has pretty well been answered. Sharpton was the only one of the sued defendants to pay up. The other two defendants went on to defraud their black clients pretty badly if the local tabloids are to be believed. Tawana changed her name and got married - I don't know what happened after that.

So, what is your point? That the Davis beating wasn't a racial incident because, uh, there are racists in the north and blacks are sometimes racist, too?

 

My point was to opine that yer claim things haven't changed much was kinda bogus.

 

And I've been around too, I know a black man is safer in downtown Clinton, Montana, than a white man would be in Harlem, NY.

 

What, you think that blacks were incapable of racism in '73? That was right around the time, iirc, that the big black-Jewish schism hit the mainstream. What do you think has changed since then?

Interracial couples are accepted pretty much everywhere now to the point where it rarely triggers violence, that's a change.

White men, women and children live in Harlem, NY; they work, eat and shop there, too. So, tell me, how do you know that, other than with so few people, comparatively, everyone is probably safer?
