    I did not know I could sign my name that way. But, I know the women of the past did. I have tried to be addressed that way and it seems to get many a feminist riled up that there would actually be a woman who wants to go by her husband's name only.

    Wanna know what the worst political correctness is? When I refer to someone unknown as "Ms", and I get a ten minute speech as to why I shouldn't be using the term. Or when I use the word "humankind" and get berated by someone who tells me I'm being "too politically correct".

    In the Air Force, my wife was Mrs. (Major) B, but at home, we just called her the CINC. (Commander in Chief, for all the civvies out there).

    Let me get this straight, it is your CHOICE to be called Mrs John Doe. Yet, the femminist do not like your choice. I was under the impression ONE of the goals of the femminist movement is for wopersons (sic) to make their own choices. Smells like a hyprocrite to me!!

    Next time a salesmen demands YOUR name, just inform them if they want your business he/she/it/ect should keep one thing in mind. "The customer is ALWAYS right!"

    Good point Saltcity Baptist. I guess next time I won't give them my name, only my Mrs. and my husband's name.

    Uh-oh, if it's a death sentence for you, it must be . . . I don't know, a fate worse than death for me. [​IMG] I've been using it since I was around 16, and I'm now 26. Not that I even use titles all that much anyway, but if I'm picking between "Miss" and "Ms," "Ms." will win every time.

[​IMG]     </font>[/QUOTE]I'm not a member of NOW now, but I was when I was around 16; at least, I was a member of their Washington State affiliate; and a charter subscriber to Ms. magazine, too, even though I was male back then, too. That's not political correctness, that's just plain odd.

    It wasn't too many years before your time that students were taught to use a singular they.

    Try sometime using the words computer and gay with the same meaning that they were even used 30 years ago. Try sometime reading Isaiah 36:12 from the KJV to a congregation.

    Words change meaning over time. The way we communicate varies from area to area. There are many dialects even in the US. Even from area to area words may have different meanings.
