Good question, but the context includes being oppresed by children.

I hadn't considered the passage in the light of women in leadership today. It is worth looking into.

Yes, and women are held to different standards in the military, which could be the topic for a different thread.

To be technical, wouldn't the US Constitution need to be amended to include the words he/she and his/her? The official wording re: POTUS concerns the pronoun "he" and "his." In order to follow the Constitution, I would suggest that the Constitution would need to be amended. One would think Conservatives, in particular, would be sticklers for following the Constitution.

"He" is, of course, used generically in the U.S. Constitution.

Also, the president is the commander-in-chief but he is a civilian and not a member of the military.

I believe the Bible also says "he" and not he/she when there are verses that mean men and women.

The office of POTUS is for a strong man of great character, humble before the Lord and able to make great decisions whenever needed. Indira Ghandi, M. Thacher and the like were exceptions, and I bet were put in power because of mens failure to fulfill their purpose.

Ideally, a man should be Pres. but if we are stupid enough to run a woman (say Condi) in order to combat Hillary, I will vote for her. I would know going in that the powers that decide these things are wrong headed and have forgotten the differences tween the sexes. There would be a huge number of Republicans that will not vote for a woman, and Hillary will win by forfeit.

You people on here that have come to believe in the equality of the sexes have succumbed to the womans liberation drivel, which was conceived in evil for the destruction of the role of the male in this society.

Personally, I don't believe in the equality of the sexes. I also believe that both men and women can have the ability to serve us in the Congress and as president.

Really? All women are inferior to all men? How do we determine who's male and who's female? A simplistic answer would be to ask people to identify based on their genitals, but then there are people with developmental abnormalities resulting in ambiguous genitalia. (Imagine the distress of the Islamic boys in one inbred family when they started developing breasts at puberty--you can just see their status declining!) You would think a more definite route would be by karyotype, but there are XY people who develop a female phenotype because of genetic abnormalities--making them inferior despite that Y chromosome, I guess. And what about the XY/XX mosaic women, in whom most of her tissues were XY but her reproductive system was XX? In spite of being overwhelmingly genetically male, she gave birth to a healthy baby. Would you count her as female because she has a uterus and is therefore inferior? What if she got an ovariohysterectomy and removed all of the XX tissue? Would she then be male and thus superior?

All of this male superior/women inferior stuff is just stupid. People are people, and all people are equal. Because the bell curves describing the temperament of the sexes does not totally overlap, the sexes typically take different roles, and God has told men to be the spiritual leaders of the home. However some men have very female temperaments and some women have very male temperaments. It's naive to say that men are one thing, women are another thing entirely, and that men are superior to women simply as the result of different genitals and a puny mismatched chromosome.

We have too many men in this country who couldn't stand the thought of a female president.

Ken, I believe in equal opportunity of all persons without regard to gender. In this aspect, equality of the sexes is appropriate, and fits with the fact that God is not a respector of persons. Where many hardcore liberals go wrong is equating "equality" with "sameness". Men and women can be considered equal, but may not be considered the same.

Your requirements for POTUS are extraconstitutional, and therefore meaningless.

And yes, I absolutely believe in equality of persons regardless of their gender.
