Pop-ups!! I hate pop-ups!! Are there any programs out there that I could download that will prevent them?

AOL has introduced anti pop-up software for their service, and it's quite nice to surf without those annoying pop-ups. The only thing is is that I really don't like surfing the net from AOL; I'd rather work from Internet Explorer, but there's those blasted pop-ups.

So, any shareware, freeware, and any other "ware" that will help? Thanks.

Guard-IE. Blocks pop-ups, and tags unwanted cookies, tho I've had problems with it marking more cookies than I want marked. When I delete the unwanted cookies, many of my passwords go with it, like the one for the Baptist Board. I have the trial version right now. I'm not sure of the cost, but I don't have to deal with pop-ups any more.

I use Guard-IE on my computer, and I like it a lot. It is kind of expensive at the price of $30. I can keep cookies off my computer, and I can keep certain ones on. Also, it has some web rules that are really nice in keeping embedded drop down ads out of the web pages. I had some trouble with earlier versions, but the 3.1 version works great with XP.

My favorite browser is the Avant Browser ( http://www.avantbrowser.com/ ), which has built in pop-up suppression. the program I like most for blocking pop-ups in Internet Explorer is called PopupPopper ( http://www.bayden.com/ ). Both programs are free and have worked flawlessly for me. [IMG]

My thanks goes out to all who replied.

I have tried all the programs suggested, and while I found them all very good, I liked the PopupPopper the best. That is what I've been looking for.

    Many thanks again. [IMG]

p.s. popupPopper works so well that when I click on the 'preview post' button, it asks me if I want to allow the preview window or to block it. ain't technology great?!? [IMG] :D [IMG]

Thanks for posting these pop-up killers. Pop-ups were REALLY getting annoying, but now I just "shoot" them and they disappear!

Folks, there are MANY free pop up killers. Don't fork out $. Check out Lava-soft's Ad-Aware 6.0. This is the best in my view because is kills ad scum and tracking cookies from planting into your system as well. Any search engine will take you right to 'em.
