Say what we want to about the Roman Catholic Church, this Pope is changing things.

I'm sure some will find both objection and will point out the RCC is a pagan institution...however, this Pope is clearly going about things differently.

Over the past several weeks, since his election, he has been able to change things and even starting to move things around the Papal residences. I'm intrigued to watch what happens with him.

Say what you will, the world is watching and is rather take aback by Pope Francis and his simpler style. That is a good thing!

Sheesh, to see all the accolades being lavished on this pope one might suspect that he is in the running for the coming AC. (No predictions :tongue3:, just observations!)
Seems one poster in particular searches for "pope endorsing" articles.

Don't footwashin Baptists have a similar taboo in their ritual?

    http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=574088&postcount=12

    Huh?

Doesn't the Bible say: she washed His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with fragrant oil?

    No Big Deal!

No Big Deal...this "pope" is just another sinful man. There is nothing "holy" or special about him that is any different than any of the rest of us. The RCC can "elevate" whomever they wish....as can any other religion or religious body in this fallen world. It makes no difference because God is not the slightest bit impressed or "moved" by any of them or their supposed "good works". In my view he is almost not even news worthy. He has no more status with God than the lowest gutter dwelling drunk except for one thing...they both stand in need (as do we all) of the mercy and grace of God in Christ Jesus.

The new pope washed the feet of 12 people, two were females. Catholic tradition stipulates that only men's feet should be washed since all 12 apostles were men. The pope is breaking tradition and some conservative Catholics see it as an opening gesture to allowing women to be ordained.

    Is this a good thing?

    Doesn't Matter...

Good, bad...doesn't really matter..anything they do is outside the sanction of the God of the Bible and as such is basically irrelevant except as a continuing "religious tradition" that contributes to the damning of the souls of men and women. False religion will always be only that....false. That is tragic and sad.:tear:

I agree with you that Catholic salvation doctrine is in error.

The reason why we should care what this pope does is because they are on the right side of the same-sex marriage issue and the abortion issue. They are basically the largest bloc of politically incorrect people in the world. If the Catholics start getting liberal as to ordaining women they could also start liberalizing their views on abortion and gay marriage. If pope Benedict was a move toward more conservative Catholic roots, it appears this pope is going in the opposite direction. It is worth watching.

    I agree...sort of...

ITL...my point was that false religion will only and always be "false religion". I agree we should "watch" because I believe the RCC figures heavily in the unfolding "end-time" events as the foundation of the Anti-Christ's world church...but lets not get caught up in or distracted too much by it. The catholic "take" on their current views about same-sex marriage and abortion is NOT from a Biblical "frame of reference" (even though they may say it is). It is from the basic truth that their prime method of perpetuating themselves as a "church" is (and always has been)through sustained "live births" and sustained faithful "catholic" child-rearing (raise one from a child and he/she will likely be one til they die)that assures continuity in raising new catholics from BIRTH on up. It is not so much by means of proselytizing or active evangelism as Bible-Believing Baptists or other Evangelical Christians would do. They well know that they can't perpetuate themselves by means of same-sex marriage which is incapable of natural childbirth OR by abortion which murders babies. Don't let their false piety fool you.

Neither do I believe it is right for true Bible-Believers to "yoke-up" with them on these causes...that is just another form of compromise that God will turn from. We are called by God in His word to "come out from among them and be ye seperate". We must stand seperate and alone when there is something worthy of our dissent....but ultimately, our main mission must always be the spread of the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and we must be cautious NOT TO BE DISTRACTED from that mission.
