Joe, some calvinists become very caloused as evidenced by PL's remarks. It is quite disturbing that anyone, particularly a pastor would find the drama funny.

Nice Jerry. At least I took the time to explain my comments.

I am not calloused in the least. I am increasingly (and gratefully) sympathetic, which is why I respond as I do to this type of thing. I am grieved by it. My Calvinism has instilled in me a great love for my Savior's glory and I detest seeing that sullied by these types of things.

It was just a moving presentation. Every single thing doesn't have to present the Gospel. There can be just Godly dramas. This just happens to be a very good drama showing God's love and ability to draw you back when these things get a hold on you. I never said it was a gospel presentation. I said it was a "powerful video". SFIC was the first to come in and condemn it because it didn't clearly show the Gospel. Do all "Christmas plays" show the Gospel? As a matter of fact, I haven't saw anybody here say it was the Gospel.

Do you do Christmas plays at your Church? If so, are they a clear presentation of the gospel or are they like all that I have saw and make a drama out of a godly storyline. How about you SFIC, do you ever have Christmas plays?

No, we do not have Christmas plays. The gospel is preached on Christmas day.

We do not do plays or dance in our congregation.

Why does the Gospel need to be preached to believers...what the church is composed of

Teaching the already saved saints how to be saved is equipping them? It's confusing me!

But it explains a lot of things that SFIC believes doesn't it... if he is only getting a salvation message it explains a lot.

I have intentionally set out of this one (except at the beginning) because there is no use talking to people who think that reaching out to teens in their language is stupid.

My youth leader read some of this thread the other day and was so glad that our church is not as backward and legalistic as people are here.

She also was going to post that I danced in church Tuesday night when we were practicing this skit... (I was playing the Jesus part)... but she was afraid you all would slam me... BUT I DON'T CARE.

You all can flame me all you want...
Because I am standing on what God tells me to do in the church he allows me to pastor...

This skit is a beautiful way to reveal God's love for us...

We are wonderfully created by God...

He created this world for us... but then the things of this world get between us and God... Romeos, materialism, alcohol, beauty,
Then when we are the lowest, feelings of despair and even thoughts of suicide... (Everything in this video is what teens are truly struggling with today, and anyone that works with teens would know this.... It is not stupid, Larry)

    BUt then...

    But then...

    YOU AIN'T HEARIN ME TONIGHT!!!

    BUT THEN....

    Jesus comes along...

He took all the evil upon himself...
(The part where he is protecting the girl from all the evil ones reminds me of him taking the evil on the cross)

    THEN HE DESTROYS THE EVIL!!

He comes to us, picks us up, cleanses us, and makes us his bride....

Then one day, I SAID one day, Hallelujah, we are going home with him where we will be forevermore... (The girl walking off the stage)

A beautiful representation of the good news...

    Teens understand it...

So therefore it is not stupid....

If they are not equipped with the gospel, how can they effectively witness the gospel to the lost?

Obviously neither you nor SFIC have yet to answer my question - "the gospel isn't there" Well here's my question....

"How do you either of you know that the gospel wasn't presented at the end of this cheesy drama and an invitation extended to accept Jesus?"

I've already asked this and am still waiting on my answer - would either of you (you & SFIC) care to take a stab at it?? Lights, camera, action!!!

How do you know it was? Why defend it in such a manner when it is clear the gospel was not given in it?

But it wasn't particularly moving, and certainly not for the right reasons. We should be moved by the proclamation of truth.

    No.

Because it is what saves us and sanctifies us.

The presentation was stupid. There are substantive ways to deal with the problems that teens face today. Ask me how I know? I do it. We don't have to stoop to this level. We can give real answers.

There's an awful lot I admire about your beliefs and willingness to stand up for them, but this is not one of them! I could ask the same of you - in fact, that's EXACTLY what I'm doing. Here you are criticizing me because I don't know, when in fact YOU DON'T EITHER!! So maybe you shouldn't be automatically leaping to conclusions that the gospel wasn't presented just because it wasn't part of a drama skit! Maybe, just maybe the explanation/invitation came after. Is this beyond your realm of possibility?

We could go around and around because it was not stupid.
I know of a person that watched it, and was up all night thinking about the message from it.. and come morning had a deeper relationship with Christ....

But you are perfectly within your rights to have the opinion it was stupid...

I am just thankful God uses the stupid things of this world to glorify him...
He uses me... and I am not the brightest lightbulb...

(Amy, no remarks from you either!!! )
