Please pray for my husband Rob. He is having increased symptoms which leads him to believe that his brain tumour is getting bigger. We found out a little while ago that he now has an appointment to see a consultant for a second opinion but we have to go privately. The hospital is some 3-4 hours away and we are now wondering if we might have to move to a different part of the country in order to get Rob the treatment he needs while the tumour is still treatable.

    Thank you so much

Rob saw the specialist today. It was a private consultation and very thorough. We were told that the radiosurgery option that Rob was hoping for is probably not possible as the tumour is now too large. The radiotherapy is only really suitable for tumours up to 2 cm and Rob's tumour measures more than 3cms. The surgeon is going to hold a case conference regarding Rob's situation but he feels that the general concensus will be that surgery is the only option. Rob and I will go back for another consultation in June and see what is recommended and hopefully be given some idea of when the specialist can procede with treatment.

This news is not what we wanted to hear and we can't help but feel sad and anxious about it but we trust that the Lord has led us to a specialist whom we feel we can trust.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying and we would greatly appreciate your continued prayers.

    Blessings to you all

Thank you so much. Your prayers are so important to us.

We are going away for a few days to see our daughter and grandchildren. Rob really needs to rest but we have another family crisis to deal with also so this is a very hard time for us.

    Blessings

Our daughter has asked us to consider moving to be closer to her and her family. They live some 180 miles away from us. It does make a lot of sense and we would get to see them all more often. I am not sure if we could sell up and be moved before Rob has his surgery.

    Thank you for your prayers

We are a bit confused - Rob has had a letter from his surgeon saying that the concensus of the case conference was that surgery was the only real option for him. We saw the consultant radiologist/oncologist on Friday and she says Rob is just within the bounds of treatment by radiotactic surgery (radiotherapy).

If Rob has surgery it is a very major operation and there is a chance he will not survive the surgery. He will be quite poorly for some time. If he has the radiotactic surgery he will have to attend hospital for sessions five days a week for six weeks and be monitored regularly. The possible problems are the expansion of the tumour, (already pressing on the brain stem) which could prove fatal, and the usual side effects of radiotherapy. There is also a small chance of developing benign or cancerous tumours.

This is a big decision to make and your prayers would be most welcome. At the moment Rob favours the radiotherapy route.

    Blessings

We will certainly be praying for you and Rob in this tough decision!

I am with Rob on this one though. If radiation, or radiation and chemo can do it, I would steer away from the surgery.

My daughter had radiation treatments, then had 2 very invasive surgeries, then topped it off with chemo. Yes, it was a very rough time, but she has been cancer free for 20 years now so it was worth it. PTL!

Pray about it, but don't worry about it (easier said than done). Know that Rob is in God's hands. He is the Great Physician and He will guide the other doctors.

Rob has decided to have the radiotactic surgery (radiotherapy). His treatment is scheduled to start 12th August and we will be staying at the hospital during the week, coming home at weekends. Rob has a few more visits to make to the hospital before the treatment can start. He has to have a mask made as he can't have a frame for his head due to his facial paralysis. He also has to have MRI scans and a CT scan in preparation for the treatment, which will last for 6 weeks.

We are still caught up in all the legalities of custody for our grandson.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

    Blessings
