Anyone ever done this in your location of ministry? I have heard that this can be a great experience, but it also opens your eyes to the needs of people outside the church building.

Can you give more of a description of what you are talking about?

I could see it as effective if it is done in conjunction with giving people the gospel.

But without the gospel message being spoken to those people in the neighborhood.......than it seems to me to be more of something to make the pray-ERS feel good rather than doing actual good for those being prayed for.

    IMHO

Ah, but what about the power in prayer? Can a person be touched without ever being talked to?

I agree with you that spreading the Good News along with this is a another plan, but I also like this one, as it helps the community of believers focus on the power of prayer, it's a great thing to do together, and it in my opinion, would help the community if done right.

I think Prayer Walking and Prayer Walking with Spreading the Good News both could have their benefits.

I know this isn't a debate forum, and Im not trying to argue. :) But no, without hearing or reading the gospel a person cannot be touched to salvation. Praying for a person alone will not see that person saved. They have to know the Way of Salvation.....either through the person's own testimony or through another witnesser coming along.

But yes, I can see how this Prayer Walking can be very effective if it is coupled with tracts in the Walker's hands. Our soulwinners need to have the Holy Spirit with them, and they need to be concentrating on helping those who the Holy Spirit is convicting.

Prayer walking is not evangelism any more than on your knees prayer is. We should pray for folks to be saved, right? Even for those we do not know personally.

A lot of time prayerwalking is done to prepare for an evangelistic event or program. The prayerwalking covers praying and becoming aware of the community, and the actual event/program does the evangelism.

a group of us pastors would do it each week at the local high school and middle school.
We each had different days and we not only seen powerful changes in students lives, but it also showed the students that we, as pastors, cared enough to be involved in their day to day lives....
