    To answer my own question:

I prefer the KJV because it is the one I have used since childhood and have been taught that it is God's perfect preserved word.

Now, I am doing research to see if this be true, thus the reason for my question! ;)

KJV/NKJV Because they are TR based, but I will often use the MVs to get the "sense" of the Scriptures.

The ESV because it combines the beauty of the KJV with the clarity of the NASB. Oh, and the Phillips NT.

For the whole Bible, the NASB, because I find that I need to correct it less often for errors in translation.

Boy, that sounds arrogant. It is not that I think I know so much but that too often, other translations have such blatant (what I call) errors in translation.

But I have not yet read an ESV, and I prefer other Bibles for specific reasons: CJB for names of people and places and Stones for the Law and Prophets.

The KJV because it is beautiful and reliable, based on the preserved texts. God in his providence has established the KJV as His preserved word in English.

I prefer the KJV because it is easily memorizable, poetic, lacking nothing, is familiar, has the most study guides, and is accepted as the Word of God by all English-speaking Christians.

I am also King James preferred, for the usual reasons: beauty of language, used by God for hundreds of years, easier to memorize, etc.

My two preferred translations are the ESV and the NASB Update.

I lean toward the NASBU, primarily because the ultrathin calfskin reference Bible I have is a far superior publication to anything available in the ESV. I have to say I've been somewhat disappointed in Crossway's ESV Bibles to date.

Also, I find the Update to be a noticably smoother, easier read than the admittedly stilted original NASB. Because of that, the readability issue is no longer a minus as far as the NASB is concerned, at least for me.

    I have three:

I prefer New King James for beauty of language without the archaisms. I grew up with the KJV1769.

I also prefer the New American Standard Bible for its better Greek documentation basis.

And I prefer the Complete Jewish Bible for its history, jewishness, and readability. Of course it is extreme dynamic equivalent, of which I am not a fan.

I prefer the KJV because it has been the Bible I was taught from since I came to the Lord. I love the poetic style, and have, up until recently, been told of it's accuracy and superior text.

Like you, Walls, this is something I am looking into also. [IMG]

I am KJV preferred because of the KJV superiority; Texts, Translators, Technique and Theology. The manuscript evidences prefer to the KJV more than modern versions. The KJV is the inspired, preserved Word of God. The KJV is alive for almost 400 years. It is the best translation and the accurate translation for English-speaking people available today.

I've been using mostly the NASV since I was young. My dad, who almost always reads from the original languages, really preferred for us to use the NASV. When I think of a scriptural phrase in English, it is most likely the NASV wording that I think of automatically. So I prefer that version, because it's what I'm most used to. I also think it is the commonly used translation that most strictly reflects what the original said.

I was led to Christ by the words, spoken & written, from the NASB. However, my fave version is the NKJV, but I also use the KJV & NIV for various jobs. And I study the AV 1611 quite often.

If I could have but one BV, it would be the NKJV. It's essentially the KJV in modern English, notwithstanding the Onlyist stupidity.

There're only two publishers that print the 1611 AV. Which edition did you buy?
