Might I suggest a break from this thread? the forum? the BB? I've had to do it myself. Helps cool you off and lower the ol' blood pressure.

I am a great learner

I was still typing while you were posting, sorry, I was gathering my thoughts.

We are making regular visits to the emergency room just about every Friday, I know the staff by first name. Thinks are rocky, up and down and she begins losing sight of who has their hands in our lives and controls it all. I try to explain to her that we shouldn't worry about what is in out of our control and we shouldn't worry about what is in our control, because God is in control of it all. Sometimes the speech helps, sometimes it doesn't.

I do care, I have a heart that sometimes shows.

Would you like to explain that or perhaps go into further detail? How are my actions different than some others and why single me out just because my post count is possibly lower and I haven't been posting as long as some others. How about you call it straight across the board instead of pointing fingers at one person. Making it fair would be nice.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a rough pregnancy. I'll keep you and your wife in my prayers that God keeps Hands wrapped around that little one. The first trimester is the toughest, from what I hear, and if you can get past that, things ususally get better. If not, be comforted that our God is in control, and know everything happens for a reason.

Willie, I like the way that you think, straight and to the point. Much appreciated.

It's not just a silly series of secular books. They are books promoting another religion that the Lord Our God is opposed to. That's not some country local church response. That is the leader of a mega church who has sold over one million copies of his book, is a member of the CFR, visits heads of state, has an international P.E.A.C.E. program, and works with presidential candidates. He has over 20,000 churches who have participated in being purpose driven and there's plenty of pastoral clones that will look at this pastor's endorsements and consider that hmmm maybe witchcraft is alright...meanwhile the word of God says it is a work of flesh and this pastor is promoting it on his website.

Even if I agreed that this was more than just a silly series of secular fiction and a local church's response (which I don't) does that give everyone cause to be so ugly about it?

WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE FOLKS. Think we might try some edifying instead of tearing down?

"Some to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife. but some also from good will; the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Gospel; the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes and I will rejoice."
    -Philippians 1:15-18

I personally don't care for RW, and the campus styled seeker friendly movement. But some of these attitudes and attacks are disgraceful. I think people should heed the joyful attitude Paul showed. In Paul's case it was obviously a lot more personal, and look how he conducted himself. Plus he was even "appointed for the defense of the Gospel".

If there is someone out there preaching another Gospel, or denying some of the essential truths, that is one thing. But just because a pastor is not your churches cup of tea, I don't think it is biblically correct to personally attack like this. I think some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. It is one thing if someone asks you, your opinion about the wisdom in reading Harry Potter, or just voicing your opinion about that. But this is not what this has been about at all. The entire motive is to attack a brothers character. I ask that people please try to follow Paul's instructions on this type of matter. "What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes and I will rejoice"

He is the face of "Christianity" to the lost, to the lukewarm, and to his followers, which are millions. What he says, they do, they are sheep, he is their shepherd.

I really appreciate that, its funny you should mention how rough things are getting. And I was kinda joking about getting to know the staff really well at the ER, but the wife just called, apparently we have an emergency doctor's visit at 1:30 PM. So I will be away for a little while. Thanks for the prayers, they are needed and webdog, I will be praying for you as well

IMO, this gives him a lot more credit/importance than he is due.

I think Jesus is still the "face of Christianity", as you call it. You are assuming too much about his influence.

Like it has been mentioned before, you can't take one thing over another, compromise begats compromise. You give a little here, you are going to give every where else.

So, what if Rick Warren never speaks against the porn industry (which he works for)? What if he actually promoted a book that shined a pleasant light on the industry, strictly fantasy based, using the common proper porn terms. There were good porn makers and bad porn makers. Let's say, soft porn = good and of course hard core = bad. So he promotes the good stuff or a book about good and bad.

Do you read it? Are you financially supporting it, whether you personally read it or not, maybe your teenage son likes it and can't wait until the movie comes out about the evil hard core vs. the wonderful soft core? Is he wrong for saying one side of the industry is better than the other?

Nope, that is what he refers to himself on his website, or what he is called among other things.

    "Americas Pastor"
    "Americas most influential spritual leader"
"Rick Warren is arguably the most influential pastor in America"

I am not going to disagree with them, I believe he is.

When pastors begin modeling their church structure and the way it is managed by a book written by a man (who is the leader of the "judge not" doctrine that is very bibilically based) rather than going to God's word and going by THE BOOK. Then there is a problem. Look at all the PDCs around the US alone, the movement is all of the world.
