We had a discussion in church today. Was wondering what your thoughts would have been.

Suppose an unsaved attractive young lady came to your church in a bikini. What would be your reaction? Would you prohibit here from attending services? What else might you do? Would your church conisder WWJD (What would Jesus do)?

I'd start a class on how to witness to the unsaved and watch all the men in church sign up.

Helen, as usual, you are the voice of reason.

I just don't understand why these discussions are always brought up by men about scantily clad women. (or their version of what ever scantily clad means)

Maybe you guys should just keep these thoughts and discussions about women in bikinis (or blue jeans, if that offends you) in the private men's forum. :BangHead:

I can't speak for all the women here, but it just gets a little old after a while listening to men talk about women's attire.

    AMEN SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To answer the OP, the simplest solution would be to have a mature lady take her aside and talk to her.

Of course, this is a ridiculous OP anyway. I can't think of ANY young lady who would be so bold, brazen or weird as to go prancing into a church clad in a bikini. It just won't happen; so this is a hypothetical question which would fall under the "foolish question" category.

IIIIIIIIIII don't know, Jim!!!!! I've been pastoring now for 20 years and I've met some pretty straaaaaaaange "motor scooters" in between that time!!!

But lets just answer the OP honestly----what WOULD we do IF a woman came in clad in a bikini??

Well---we ask WWJD?? What would Jesus do??

Well---I believe He'd do like I would do and I would do like He would do----I guess what I'm saying is-----if a woman came in to the church services clad in a bikini---we'd both "stick to the text"----we'd present the truth of Scripture to her in the exact same manner as we would to the biggest Pharasee clad in his neck to ankle robe----and we'd look for a change of heart!!!

See---if me and Jesus can get her to change her heart----she'd go home and change her clothes---and the next Sunday---you can look for the same woman with a changed heart wearing a change of clothes!!! She's dressed different on the inside---makes all the difference in the world on how she dresses different on the outside!!!

    See?

What would you do if a man came to church in nothing but a speedo bikini?

I'm with my sisters. This subject has been beaten to death.

While I understand the point you are making, blackbird, I'm afraid your sermon would fall on some VERY deaf ears, because a lot of eyes would be looking at her. I would want her covered not so much for her sake as for everyone else's...

Amen to that! I would want her O, U, T, as well. I guess I'm not as compassionate as some.

What if she came in smoking, drinking AND wearing a bikini?

My apologies to Salty. It's just that this subject has been soooo worn out that the only thing left to do is laugh about it. Hope you aren't offended.

James 2:1-5 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

I remember Vernon McGees statement about women's clothes.......

A womon cannot cover up enough skin to get rid of the lust in a man's heart.

I would first try to determine if she was either 1) dangerously insane, 2) being provocative, or 3) unaware. If #1, I would call the police. If #2, I would ask her as tactfully as possible to leave and have the deacons' wives show her to the door, and call the police if necessary. If #3, have the deacons' wives offer her some appropriate clothing and then talk to her kindly about it.

True. However, less cover leads to more lust, does it not?
