I thought I would show 27 verses from this Psalm according to these two versions .The NASU will be at the top , and the NLTse will be below for each verse .

6 -- Then I shall not be ashamed
When I look upon all Your
    commandments .

Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands .

21 -- You rebuke the arrogant , the cursed , Who wander from Your commandments .

You rebuke the arrogant ; those who wander from your commands are cursed .

31 -- I cling to Your testimonies ; O Lord , do not put me to shame !

I cling to your laws . Lord , don't let me be put to shame !

34 -- Give me understanding , that I may observe Your law And keep it with all my heart .

Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions ; I will put them into practice with all my heart .

35 -- Make me walk in the path of Your commandments , For I delight in it .

Make me walk along the path of your commands , for that is where my happiness is found .

    47 -- I shall delight in Your commandments , Which I love .

How I delight in your commands ! How I love them !

60 -- I hastened and did not delay To keep Your commandments .

I will hurry , without delay , to obey your commands .

68 -- You are good and do good ; Teach me Your statutes .

You are good and do only good ; teach me your decrees .

76 -- O may Your lovingkindness comfort me , According to Your word to Your servant .

Now let your unfailing love comfort me , just as you promised me , your servant .

82 -- My eyes fail with longing for Your word , While I say , "When will You comfort me ?"

My eyes are straining to see your promises come true . When will you comfort me ?

90 -- Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations ; You established the earth , and it stands .

Your faithfulness extends to every generation , as enduring as the earth you created .

96 -- I have seen a limit to all perfection ; Your commandment is exceedingly broad .

Even perfection has its limits , but your commands have no limit .

98 -- Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies , For they are ever mine .

Your commands make me wiser than my enemies , for they are my constant guide .

99 -- I have more insight than all my teachers , For Your testimonies are my meditation .

Yes , I have more insight than my teachers , for I am always thinking of your laws .

103 -- How sweet are Your words to my taste ! Yes , sweeter than honey to my mouth !

How sweet your words taste to me ; they are sweeter than honey .

105 -- Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path .

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path .

122 -- Be surety to Your servant for good ; Do not let the arrogant oppress me .

Please guarantee a blessing for me . Don't let the arrogant oppress me .

126 -- It is time for the Lord to act , For they have broken Your law .

Lord , it is time for you to act , for these evil people have violated your instructions .

128 -- Therefore I esteem right all Your precepts concerning everything , I hate every false way .

Each of your commandments is right . That is why I hate every false way .

131 -- I opened my mouth wide and panted , For I longed for Your commandments .

I pant with expectation , longing for your commands .

134 -- Redeem me from the oppression of man , That I may keep Your precepts .

Ransom me from the oppression of evil people ; then I can obey your commandments .

151 -- You are near O Lord , And all Your commandments are truth .

But you are near , O Lord , and all your commands are true .

153 -- Look upon my affliction and rescue me , For I do not forget Your law .

Look upon my suffering and rescue me , for I have not forgotten your instructions .

162 -- I rejoice at Your word , As one who finds great spoil .

I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure .

    163 -- I hate and dispise falsehood , But I love Your law .

I hate and abhor all falsehood , but I love your instructions .

172 -- Let my tongue sing of Your word , For all Your commandments are righteousness .

Let my tongue sing about your word , for all your commands are right .

176 -- I have gone astray like a lost sheep ; seek Your servant , For I do not forget Your commandments .

I have wandered away like a lost sheep ; come and find me , for I have not forgotten your commands .

    Good stuff!

    v. 172 is quite interesting in the NASU.

The NLTse has a freshness to it.

    NASU/NLTse

Verse 60 -- NASBU has hastened ( Who says this these days ? )
    NLTse has hurry .

    Verse 68 -- Do good
    Do only good

    Verse 96 -- Exceedingly broad
No limit ( same as HCSB )

    V. 122 -- Surety ( kind of an old-fashioned word -- good in its place -- I will bring it up in future thread unrelated to translational issues )
Guarantee ( A more understandable word which the HCSB also uses here .)

    V. 151 -- All Your commandments are truth.
All your commands are true . ( Same as the HCSB )

    V. 162 -- Finds great spoil . ( Who speaks like this these days ? )
Like one who discovers a great treasure . ( The HCSB has : Like one who finds vast treasure .)

The NLTse likes to use the word "instructions" . But it's not the same as directions to a starter kit :)

Have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean? "Finds great spoil" sounds like Pirates' talk.

    Shiver me timbers.

I’ve had a song in my head all week.

    I’d Rather Have Jesus
    I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
    I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I’d rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Than to be a king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway,
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
    This world affords today.

    We don’t speak like that!
    “…held in sin’s dread sway”
But it's effective and very beautiful.

Remember, the psalms are stylized Hebrew poetry…laments…prayers…songs...

I've been enjoying the NLT in the Psalms.
But other versions offer different translational perspectives that are very beautiful in their own special way.
