    I asked this question in another forum, but think I might do better posting in here. Has anyone ever been to Punxsutawney, PA for groundhog day? I am wondering if this might be a worthwhile endeavor this year for me and my family.

    My daugher went to college there last year (and transfered to IUP main-campus this year).

    She said that some of the event was family-oriented but also quite rowdy at times, with loud music, drinking and cavorting.

    It was very crowded, unless you have already made plans to stay in a local hotel, plan on walking quite some distance, downtown Punxsy is is shut down tight.

    She'll probably go there again this year and stay with a friend on campus.

    I've seen Groundhog Day with Andie McDowell and Bill Murray about a hundred times. One of my favorite feel-good flicks.

    We were coming through there one year while on vacation and stopped at the festival they were having and we enjoyed it. We were just there for a couple of hours but I didn't see any drinking or rowdyness going on. they had crafts and food vendors set up and some music going. We enjoyed the short time we were there. It was also during the day with lots of children, so they might have things going on at night that might be more rowdy!
