I haven't, but I've heard a lot about it. Is this something a person can do on their own, or does it need to be a group of people, like a church doing it?

Anyone can read the book on their own!

My church just finished the 40 days emphasis...tomorrow is "Celebration Sunday" where we reflect on what God has done through this study. This morning, my Sunday School class had a fellowship where we discussed what the book has meant to us, personally. The testimonies shared were very moving. Lots of the ladies are going to re-read the book individually.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to really understand our purpose in being here on this planet, and who wants a deeper walk and fellowship with Jesus Christ. There are many, many, many scripture references throughout the book, and if you take the time to look them up and meditate upon them, you really CAN gain a deeper, more intimate relationship with Jesus.

I personally have not read the book, just flipped through the pages. Personally, I would not recommend it because first, you have to have 15 plus different bibles just to understand the scripture quotes. Second, a "Purpose Driven Life" can be found in the Bible if you would just read it. This is book is mainly being used by the SBC. This is what happens, IMO, when you forsake the word of God and look elsewhere to find out what your "Purpose Driven Life" is. I give it a thumbs down.

Homebound, you asked if anyone had read the book and what they thought about it. You apparently already have an opinion of the book, even though you admit you have not read it. So, did you ask about it to see if everybody agrees with your already-determined assessment? Or did you ask to try to start yet another discussion between those who like the book and those who don't? You obviously don't care for it.

    Just curious...

People seem to either love the book, or hate it.

By the way, you do NOT have to have "15 different Bibles just to understand the scripture quotes". He does use many different translations, but you may look them up and study them in your translation of choice, as I did. [IMG]

It appears Homebounds purpose is to cause strif, or be strif. Homebound purposely baited to see what people would say so he could attack.
That is not nice, prephaps Homebound needs to find out his purpose, becasue this isn't it.
Nor do I appreciate his attack on my church saying we have forsaken the bible. He obviously does not know anyhting about what he says.

I thought it was pretty easy reading myself.

And if it is biblical, by golly, even more so read it.

I just bought the book last week. Haven't got started on it, yet. But I am looking forward to it.

    PS-Homebound, grow up.
