I have come across a thread on another forum site that has mentioned a guy name Curry Blake. This gentleman evidently hawks his own 'Divine Healing Technician Training' program. Reeks of fakery to me.

My question. Am I off the base for having the thought that genuine spiritual gifts do not require training? I mean this in a purely general sense with nothing to do with Biblical study or seminary.

We are told the Apostles were given power to heal every kind of disease. I don't recall mention of being trained to do it.

In my understanding of spiritual gifts, there is nothing to train. The gifts passed away with the last of the Apostles.

As the gifts were given to authenticate the NT, and to serve the church prior to the completion of the NT, the need for those gifts, both miraculous and service, passed away.

Today we have a bible to study to learn what we need to know regarding service. "Study to show yourselves approved unto God, workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

May we- take this a step further

Would you say the gift of Teaching, preaching, evangelism, ect are gifts -
    Would these gifts require training.
Granted advance training will enable a person to to a better job .......

They were. Now they are skills acquired through study and dedication to the word.

They did not. No training can surpass or even equal the Holy Spirit empowered gifts given in the 1st century.

Better than the Holy Spirit can provide through His empowering?

I highly recommend the book, The New Covenant Ministry of the Holy Spirit by Dr. Larry Pettegrew, Dean of Faculty at Shepherds Seminary (ATS accredited) (B.A. Bob Jones University, M.R.E. Central Baptist Theological Seminary, M.Div. Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Th.M. Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Th.D. Dallas Theological Seminary).

Yes, for unlike the sign gifts, those would be seen as being given to person until the Second Coming, as we still need gifted persons in those areas doe the Church to be instructed and matured!

Did not mean to imply that.
