Most of my life as a believer since 1975 I have attended baptist or bible churches and they believed in eternal security, I am a big fan of charles stanley of in touch, Anyway a couple years ago my church split up and each side went their own way, since then I have had a problem finding a church that really loves god and cares about his people, first I went to a pentecostal church because it was a few blocks from my house and I was totally disillusioned with church , then/now I am attending a salvation army church that does not believe in eternal security, but it is the best church in years that I have found, my question is this; I believe in eternal security and they do not , is it possible to be a member and be happy at a church that does not believe in eternal securtity? Is it ok to do this? I am happier than I have been in a long time here, but I am a bit disturbed when I hear then say this stuff, should I ignore that and be thankful for a church that I love? please give me your opinions, thanks

I believe the eternal security of the believer is a Biblical doctrine that is essential to one's view of Christ, His atoning work, the doctrine of man, and the nature of God's Word. If they disbelieve God's Word on eternal security, I can't hang with them. They are jettisoning too much Biblical truth.

Question is, why do you like this church? What is it about this church that you like so much? Can you not find this in other churches? Are you looking for the right things?

thanks for your reply. I too think the eternal securtity of the believer is extremely important. I guess because I am disabled and this church is handicapped accessible and so many are not, that is one reason why I like it there, but he preaches great sermon as well, that really help me and speak to me, and it is close to my home, but what I am really looking for in a church is a place where I can serve using the gifts I have and this church has opportunitie I believe, at least once I become a soldier there will be some opportunits and they have helped us by starting a valet service for my mom and I on sundays so we dont have to walk the long way to get the car. But I think I would be happier if I knew they believed in eternal security, after all, my question to them would be this; how can they not believe in eternal security ? I mean we dont do anything to earn it and if we are not eternally secure then what they are really saying is that we have to do something to keep ourselves saved and that is not correct doctrine. Maybe mom and I should keep looking around or maybe go to two different churches.

Hi... I can understand where you are coming from. The only help I can give you is what the Bible says...As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Gal 1:9)... Not believing eternal security means that they must believe "works". Another verse is...Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. (2Th 3:6)... If you Email me your location I will try to find you a church close to you that is "Baptist" and can help you. I hope this helps....God bless.

They don't believe "once saved, always saved"? I suppose if you don't mind going there and watching those folks get saved over and over and over again--because no doubt their salvation is in jeopardy every single time they commit 1/2 of one small sin--that kind of theology has always thrown me for a loop! I mean, which sin is it that a person needs to commit that will then cause them to loose their salvation?

As many Charles Stanley "puppets" there are out there--I'm pretty sure you can find a local preacher who will do!

As much as I would like to attend a church that you describe you want, it is not up to us where we attend but up to God. If the Church is not teaching correct doctrine concerning eternal security, how can you trust it to teach correct doctrine corning everything else. I must say this church is obivisouly feeding your flesh and not your spirit. get away from it and find a good Baptist church somewhere where they teach correct doctrine

I question that if they don't beleive in eternal salvation are they giving the same gospel? I feel you can't grow spirtually if you are not learning the true doctrine of the word of God. The bible clearly says you can't mix grace with works and that is exactly what you are getting. Please consider praying and asking God to show you the path. It might take sometime but it took me and my husband praying for 2 years. I think the Lord was testing our faithfulness to him. Hang in there. God still answers prayer. [IMG]
