Question on Deut 5:16

    I agree. I often get questions about Prov. 22:6. taking a child to church and doing a few things is not training. It's part of it, but not all. The promise holds true. I also have sons who are away from God. I failed to train them, plain and simple. I can't say that God's word is wrong.

    I can see where maybe we fall short on our definition of "honor".

    There are blessings given associated with obedience - and in this case -- blessings that apply to this life.

    Thus in Eph 6 Paul again quotes this commandment saying that this is the first of the Ten commandments "with a promise".

    Apparenltly Paul still valued that blessing.
