I have never thought about it. We've always had a fairly large crowd at business meetings, but I don't know if there is a minimum number. It is, however, a scheduled business meeting (can't just pop one on us).

 

We are elder led (right now two of us). But we have 10 families and 4 single women. We seek 100% agreement by talking with each family and sharing plans, etc, privately. If ANY are hesitant, when elders meeting we agree to put off a decision and won't do it until the Body is in concord.

 

There are only a couple of times a year that we need to have a membership vote and most of the time it's just for new members (which has always been unanimous). But the one big time we need to make sure we have people there to vote is our annual meeting where we vote on the budget and the new deacons. In order to make sure we have enough people there, we make it our one and only pot-luck dinner. 600+ people come because we KNOW Donna will make her jerk chicken, Margaret makes her amazing eggplant with mozzarella dish and I make multiple trays of roasted veggies (just three of the very yummy, much sought after meals of the night). Nothing brings out a majority like a good pot-luck!
