Perhaps this topic would be better served in the Theology forum. Where you could explain what you believe in more detail and other posters could discuss the issue at length.

I'm not really looking to debate. I've done that enough in the past and try to steer clear unless I get suckered into it (which happens more than I like!). I'm just trying to get a feel for what Baptists believe. Besides, the theology section says "babtists only," which doesn't sound all inclusive. Does it really mean that if I'm not a baptist then I'm not allowed into thier discussions???

Enjoyed the options. No doubt about where someone fits in with such unambiguous choices!

And please, leave the poll HERE. The theology forum is vastly overworked. This may develop some discussion (threads with polls often do) but would be best served left where it is!

(Did I mention I moderate the Theology forum and don't want any more work there? Thought I did . . )

Frankly, I'm a 'pan-millenialist'. It's all going to 'pan-out' in the end! [IMG]

"I know pre-trib is correct" is ahead of "I know pre-trib is wrong" 9 to 5. Maybe there should be a debate. Those that "know" can state their case one little argument at a time and those that are unsure can sit back and come to their own conclusions.

For the record, I know pre-trib is wrong.
I guess I'm a sucker for debates!

Well designed poll: good question, good answers, and I agree that it should remain here rather than the theology forum. This way we can have some fun with it.

just a neutral thought; except by death, no one can go till he comes anyway, right? i'd think we would all strive to be the best christians we could possibly be till then. by the by i am pre-trib. because that is what the bible teaches. but it is a small matter compared to the walk i and every christian should walk, daily ! besides all that can anyone tell God when to come back? it matters not,it is God's plan, and we will go along with it,won't we?

I beg to differ. The only Bible truth is this: Christ will come again. Pre, mid, post, -a-, and all the rest ARE theories. Personally, MY theory would be amillenial and posttrib...but I could be wrong. The one I thing I know for sure, "Christ will come again." And also this, that every day, He comes to those whose hearts are ready to receive Him.

Okay, I've decided to try to give in and get the ball rollin. I say that there is not ONE verse in the Bible that even hints to a pre-trib rapture. I will even let those of you that are confident that pre-trib is the way begin with your arguments.

Now, somebody give your reason as to why pre-trib is biblical (you know, we aren't destined for wrath, we are to be kept from the hour, Matthew 24 was for Israel, etc) and some of us will respond.

This should be very helpful for those that are unsure.

Dave:

I agree with you. This secret rapture theory was invented in recent history. Prior to Darby it was unheard of. It is a good example of what happens when man goes outside of the authority established by Christ.

It seems if this was so clear in Scripture, you would see the Christians in the first through eighteenth centuries writing/speaking about it.

So true, logan. Though the date of a belief can never determine its truthfulness or lack thereof, it is very interesting that there is NO mention of a pre-trib theory before 1830ish. Yes, some, like Ice or LaHaye, will try to use Seudo Ephriam, but even that is misused in order to try to prove pre-trib.

Here are just a few examples from the good ol' days.

Justin Martyr (100-165) He shall come from heaven with glory, when the man of apostasy, who speaks strange things against the most High, shall venture to do unlawful deeds on earth against us Christians

Irenaeus (130-202) ...shall give their kingdom to the beast, and put the church to flight. After that the coming of our Lord shall destroy them.... In the end the church shall be suddenly caught up: and, having overcome, will be "crowned with incorruption."

I believe that C.S. Lewis' account (in the last book of the Chronicles of Narnia)of the 2nd coming is the best, and most heart-warming I've ever read. I'm content to put the details under the category of 'mystery', yet all-the-while certain that Christ will indeed come again.

Whaaaaat? Are there really no die-hard pre-tribbers that want to prove, here and now, that pre-trib is "Bible truth?"

There are about 30 references in the OT where the wicked get taken away and the righteous stay!

More important, God has only one group of people not two(Israel and the Church)

Do dispensationalist know that the tribe of Dan is missing in the 144,000 found in Revelation?

A pre-trib friend of mine told me that "it feels good to know that we won't be going through the tribulation". I say, just because it feels good, does that mean it is right?

I know pre-trib is wrong.

There is no such thing as a "pre-trib rapture". Wonderful piece of fiction and fodder for really bad fiction (hello LaHaye and Jenkins!). But that's about all.

I have heard it said by some (though am not sure where I fall on it) that it is part of the lie used to attempt to deceive the elect...

Christ will come again. But neither side can prove their view 100%. So it would be unfair to paint pre-tribbers, or post-tribbers as being unintelligent, or less informed than we.

Nobody knows when, so to say pre or post-trib is a biblical truth is dangerous.

My studies lead me to a pre-trib rapture. But when he does come, I hope I'm out witnessing, or in church, and not on the internet arguing post or pre-trib stuff.

Bro Curtis>But neither side can prove their view 100%.

Me>Other positions MAY not be able to prove themselves 100% (when it comes to perfect timing) but pre-trib CAN be proven 100% wrong.

Me again>You will spend time arguing the big "M" on another thread but you don't think debating CHRIST'S SECOND COMING, one of the most important events that will EVER take place, is worthy of spending time on?
