    Perhaps Lee's failure to press on at Gettysburg on the first day. That delay cost them the battle and probably ultimately the war.

    Hitler's Russian advance during the Winter was a colossal blunder.

    Have you seen that movie, Bob? I still have nightmares from it. One of the most awful (NOT recommended to anyone) emotional films with a young Mel Gibson.

    BTW, I visited the battlefield and cemetery in 96 and it is heartbreaking. Any ANZAC who doesn't spit on a British officer still today is crazy.

    Remember earlier in this thread how I was ranting about Custer? Well, guess what? I was researching my great-gradfather's role in Civil War, he was in Hood's Texas Brigade. After Civil War, they became part of the 7th Calvary. To make a long story short, found out he was related to General Custer. Life is interesting! :rolleyes: :eek:

    I can think of two major blunders:
    1. The Germans underestmiated the Allied Forces on D-Day.

    2. Allowing Col Klink to remain commander of Stalig 13 [​IMG]

    Since it is where I am best read I will stick to WWII. These are all German blunders.

    1) Not sending the tanks into Dunkirk in 1940.
    2) Not invading England in the fall of 1940.
    3) Germany declaring war on the U.S.
    4) Not accepting the Russian offer of land for peace in fall of 1941.

    5) Not accepting second soviet peace for land offer in 1942.

    6) The decision to produce the buzz bomb instead of the ME 209 jet fighter.

    Here in the US we tell the history as a kind of America entered the war, the factories kicked into production and that was that. Germany had many chances to win. Thank goodness they didn't.

    I would say that former President Bush's decision to pull back before taking Baghdad in Operation Desert Storm was a very costly military blunder.
